Ok ... I guess it wasn't an argument. But still, you guys did have a fairly heated dispute. Anyway, thanks for all your guys' help, and you were right about being able to remove the needles. I read about a dozen other people doing it too, so that kind of reinforced that point.

Anyway, I guess I have one final question which I need some clarification on. Just to make sure I don't mess nothin up or burn out the power converter unit, I was wondering how to actually go about tapping into the headlight wire.

Would I just take the wire that comes out of the power unit and try to jam it into the same plug-in on the cluster plug, or do I have to actually splice the wire itself and wrap electrical tape all around it? If one of these ideas would actually work, which route would you all advise me to take, and if I'm way off then I'm more than open for any suggestions. Thanks guys, help is appreciated as always.

yep, do what macdaddy says. RadioScrap sells the wiretaps, they come in two different guage sizes. make sure to get the correct size so that you make a good connection.

Thanks for going out of your way to look that up Mac, but luckily that's exactly what I got. I looked around for a couple minutes examining everything they had, and it said "quick splice connectors, no wire stripper needed blah blah blah" so I got it. Thanks for the effort though.

Now do I just pull out the black/green wire and plug it into that little connector along with the gauge wires, and then crimp the little plastic piece to make the metal splice the wires or what?

EDIT: Heh, well it looks like I overlooked the fact that they're made for certain wire sizes too... The ones I got are the blue ones (14-18 gauge wire), and as far as my wiring knowledge goes, I didn't even know they had wire measurments. So uhh, which one would you guess I need?

Blue ones will be fine. And yess you just plug the wires into them, crimp down, and woila, clean splice. And your Welcome, BTW. I try to help as much as I can.

you should have three wise with black clips on the end, they go the the actual gueges itself.
Alright guys, this is the last question I have before this thread goes dead. When centless mentioned that the black wire is the ground, does that mean that I just crimp the red one in with the green/black one, or do I crimp them both at the same time?

As I said, my wiring knowledge is very minimal and I feel like a dumbass for my ignorance, but I'd much rather ask than burn somethin out.

For sure, as a matter of fact I AM going to make a How To on how to install these specific gauges, just so that when a noob like me comes along again he has a place to go and find everything he needs to know. Cuz I know it would've been a great help to me.

Well I connected the red wire using the scotchlock on the green/black wire, and ran the black wire to that little metal piece behind the middle of the cluster. I go to turn on my lights, and nothing ...

1st Question: Is there more than one green/black wire, cuz it seemed to me there was one on the right plug on the left side of the cluster, and one on the long plug on the right side of the cluster. I used the little plug on the left side.

2nd Question: I know I asked before, but it's the green/black for sure right?

I think I may have come up with a conclusion, and everything tells me that the gauges just simply don't work. Is there any way the power unit could've burnt up or something, or anything of the sort. I am almost 100% sure that I did everything right, plugged in all three gauges into the little sockets, attached the black wire to the metal bar to ground it, and tapped into the green/black wire with the red one coming out of the power unit. I go to turn on the lights ... and NOTHING!!!

Could it be possible that they just simply don't work? Is there a way to test them by providing power from some other source just to see if they work nor not?

EDIT: Nevermind, false alarm. It turns out they DO work, but the green/black wire isn't the right one. Cuz the only time they light up is when I turn on my left blinker hehe Sorry centlsess, but it turns out you were mistaken, however I would like to find out which wire I'm really supposed to use now ...

EDIT AGAIN: Ok, one last edit and one last post for this thread. The gauges are finally done!!! I feel so much better now ... and just for the record you were right when you said green/black it's just that I used the wrong one hehe. Thanks for all the great help guys, I'll make sure to post pics ASAP!
