Fuel Pressure Regulator...Worth It?

Hey people, what exactly does a fuel pressure regulator do? Is is worth getting for $140? I see that they are mostly universal kits, so it will probably fit our cars. So once again, what does it do? Thanks in advance...

on a stock or mildly modified engine it will do absolutly nothing but make you wallet $140 lighter.
aftermarket units are usually higher flow and adjustable for modified (nos, turbos) engines to keep up with the increased fuel demands.
btw- a fuel pressure regulator does exactly what the name implies... it regulates the fuel pressure according to demand.
