Fuel Mileage- 01-02 Pro

Just curious how long before any of you '02 drivers saw mileage anywhere near what the sticker says. I've got about 5,500 miles on my 02, and I'm no where close to the 30 MPG highway like it says. I've heard depending on your driving, it may take up to like 15,000 before this happens....any info on this?

I drove from Milwaukee,Wi to Miniaplois,Mn on the way up I got 28mpg and took 1 tank and on the way back I got about 35mpg and only used a 3/4 tank I only could figure that it is up hill from MKE to MINSOTA so that it is down hill back?! I get 23 on city streets all the time. But I like to take my Pro on the line quick!

I do not get the city mileage at all, but I think that is because of a 15 minute commute where 10+ mins is spent at traffic lights... I also let the car warm up as it would not have a chance to get warm by the time I got to work and I am not shutting the engine off cool and letting condensation occur inside the block.

However, when I have been on the hightway with the cruise locked in at ~70mph I can make the 30mpg number that was on the sticker OK... move it more towards 75+ and it it gets closer to 28mpg or so...move it down towards 65 and it gets a little over 30mpg.

So far the car has ~6k miles on it....

I have checked the milage a few times it never was all in town or all highway driving...but a mix of the two...and my milage comes in at 27 MPG. I figured it was right on the money....and like TheMan....I tend to push the speed upwards of 80 at times, like whenever I am on the open road. I figure if I could just convince myself to use the cruise control.....and end up going any extended distance like that.....the milage would be at least as good as advertised.

Heavy footed days about 23 in the City-Highway as high as 29, with about 7,200 miles on the car.

for the last three tanks ive been getting about 22 mpg. its horrible. thats kinda city driving. I let my car warm up in the morning for about 2 minutes, sometimes 5. Also, i like to go dippin into the turns and sometimes ill get up there around 5 rpms. But not often. I use 87 octane and got about 6k on my ODO

MP5!

My millage sucked as well.
I use to get only about 22 mpg tank after tank (city), after changing oil for the second time at about 4500 miles (1 quart of Amsoil synthetic and 2.6 quarts of Pennsoil reg. W5-30 instead of 10-30 all Castrol from the dealer it jumped to 24mpg and it looks like I may beat it on this tank.
Engine feels so much smoohter and less stained and noisy that on 10-30 Castrol, can't wait till my next oil change at 7500miles , all Amsoil Series 2000 Synthetic!!!
