I'll admit, the leather is well worth the $400 price tag (if it were $800, I would have skipped it) but the 6-speaker upgrade is really more of a novelty than a functional addition. I haven't heard the old 4-speaker version, but the high-end response on the factory radio in my 2002.5 P5 isn't all that great, even with the tweeters in the sail panels. I guess it makes the upgrade to a better components system easier though, since the cutouts and wiring are already there.

that is really odd....I wonder if it was a regional thing...but it was on the MazdaUSA site.....just like the side air bags could only be gotten if you got ABS....hmmmm strange....of course now we can't go back and look as the site has changed for the 2003's oh well...no biggie...i like having BOTH... :{D

no one probably remembers me asking the same question about a month ago when I bought my 2003 p5. As far as I can tell the only options I dont have on my car is the Tapedeck or Minidisk player and the rear view mirror with compus and thermo. Ive got the six speakers, leather, sunroof, etc. My original question was where ther harness is for it. Id be courious to see if there is one and it could be tapped into. Also where is the amp and sub mounted in the factory version. Take some spy photos.

Our car came with the 6 speakers. They are pioneers, sound pretty nice for factory. As for replacing speakers with something better, go for Bose (if you want to spend a bit)

What are you talking about? I have worked at a couple of shops and neither of them sell Boseee CAR SPEAKERS, and as far as I know they don't exist. PLus all you pay for with Bose is their stupis *** marketing. IF you are looking to upgrade speakers lookat at MB quart or Diamond audio or something along those lines. And as far as the factory stuff being Pioneer more than likely iy is but don't be foole dinto thinking it is as good of quality as the stuff they sell at retail level, which isn't that great in the first place.

I just did a search of dealer inventory at my dealership on the mazdausa website and here is the factory sub listed on a 2003 Protege. Do you think that they can retrofit it to a 2002.5? I would like more bass but don't want to put a new sound system in my car. Also, has anyone seen the actual setup on the factory sub. Does it take up any trunk space? Thanks.
