Exhaust pole!

Whats up everyone, I'm kinda new to this forum. First off I just wanted to say thank you to everyone, so far everyone has been really helpful. I appreciate it. About this post, I recently baught an 03 MP5. I'm looking for a good solid exhaust system. I want it to be louder than stock but not to the point it becomes an annoyence. I just wanted to see what everyones opinions were. I'm lookin for header all the way back, so if you know of a good setup, let me know somethin. thanks again everybody!

btw. heres my beast! lol

Nice decision on the P5. Looks to be in great shape.

If you are only wanting to change the exhaust sound you don't need a catback. You can get what you are looking for by replacing the stock muffler with a mazdaspeed axleback muffler. They sound pretty good, and are not annoyingly loud.

^^ I second that opinion.

Unless your final plan with the car is to go turbo and go after big HP gains, then a cat-back is not necessary. The gains from a cat-back are minimal, but you want the extra flow if you decide to install additional performance mods later on.

However if you're like me, and just want something that looks and sounds better than stock then all you really need is a Mazdaspeed Axleback exhaust. It pretty much just replaces the muffler... It fills the bumper cut-out PERFECT and sounds freakin sweet!

Also, a nice set of black wheels and a 1.5" drop in suspension would compliment your ride real well. Maybe tint the back windows too and definately look into getting a shorty antena!

Now that's just my opinion ... everyone has their own style so don't let me influence what you do to your car

Yeah i had thought about the mazdaspeed muffler! believe it or not the tint actually gets darker and darker the further back you go on the windows. Also, I have a shorty antenna on the way. lol gotta get rid of the goofy lookin one. And I second your opinion krayziefox about the drop and wheels. I'm going to go with a 17in. black rim with a polished lip probably. some people have said go with 18's but that just might be too big for me. What do you think of the eibach prokit for this car? its somewhere between a 1.4-1.6 drop. I've never used eibachs before so I dont know how well they ride... but yeah guys thanks for the suggestions. and thanks for the compliment on the car Luzer...

yeah, that's the one. I had that exhaust on my P5 for awhile, and really liked it. The fitment couldn't be better.

For an even less "droney" exhaust, Racing Beat makes the least intrusive of them all.

Eibachs are also a great choice..couple them with a set of tokico blues and you're in business.

Nice p5, BTW!

Welcome to the site. Very nice P5

For exhaust, I like the Racing Beat. Not too loud, looks nice. I'd be pimping the Thunder exhaust that I sell but it's only made for the sedan.
There are a lot of good springs available; I have the Eibach myself.

18s look like crap on our cars, IMO. I wouldn't go larger than 17".

One little pimp for me though: hit me up when you are ready for an intake or HIDs.

Thanks! I appreciate that. I've heard the racing beat exhaust before and I liked it. I'm glad to hear that the eibachs are good for this car. I almost baught a set for my civic but a few friends of mine told me that they rode a little rough. But yeah, the p5 has a few little things already done to it. nothing major... the guy i baught it from put in an extra set of fogs behind the lower grill, (makes this thing light up 20 miles of road it seems lol), polished guage bezel rings, 1/4 in. spacers on the wheels to bring them all the way out, and even hand made a custom black wooden shift **** with the mazda emblem. let me see what i can do for pics...

ahhh here we go...

I thought I saw an extra foglight in there ... but I didn't wanna say anything and make a fool of myself. Take some night-time pics for us, I wanna see how that looks when the lights are actually in use.

As far as the springs go, Eibachs are probably some of the most popular and best quality springs offered for the P5. Same goes for the Racing Beat exhaust. The only downfall is that the price tag is a little higher on those items simply due to their popularity. Keep an eye out for people selling stuff on the forums, that's where most of your savings will come from

Oh yeah, a couple more things.

Whatever you do, do NOT put 18" rims on your car. They are simply too damn big for our little cars. I had a set of 18" OZs on my P5 when I first got it and the car would seriously struggle to take off at times. It also KILLED my gas mileage by at least 4-5 mpg .. it sucked. 17" is definately the way to go, just make sure you grab some good tires while you're at it also (check out the Tire Review thread to get some opinions on popular tire choices for our cars.

Also, if you haven't already ordered a separate antena .. you could just snip the top of the stock antena and make it a shorty. The antena still works just fine ...

LOL yeah man you saw an extra fog light in there. Hopefully I will get some nighttime pics soon. I was thinking the same thing about the rims, 18's are just too big for my taste. Not to mention, I'm not really gangsat enough for em. lol I'll have to check out the tire review like you said. Right now it has Yokohama ES100s on it. The guy I baught it from put them on there and only drove it like two more times after he got them. I'll probably just keep those for winter tires and wheels once I get my others. anyway, I found a mazdaspeed axle back for like 160 on ebay (new) there is a used one on there also, the bid for that one is sitting at 20 i think. I appreciate all the help from you and all the other guys who have taken their time to read this thread.

I think my 18's look pretty damn good, and I'll bet the rolling mass of my 18" 15lb wheels does less to my milage than a set of 17" 20+lb ones.
