Exhaust and Air intake

Hey guys. I don't know how many of you know but i am now an owner of a 01 MP3 and have redefined love for a car. Anyways, I am looking for exhaust systems for it and have found that Magnaflow has an excellent sounding product and not only that it keeps the subtlety of the Racing Beat that originally came w/the car. That being said NOPI is offering both Magnaflow and Bosal exhaust systems w/very little pricing differences. I am curious on what exhaust system to instal in my new baby. Please let me know what you guys think.

I also am looking for a new CAI or RAI for my car as well. The original CAI intake that came w/the car was in VERY VERY bad condition. The filter was brown and rusted. There were holes in the filter and rocks embedded in the wire mesh. The person didnt take good care of it. I am curious on what brands out there are good....scratch that excellent for my car. I only want the best. When it comes to my car or any car I do not cut corners. Please let me know what you all think. Thanks you guys.

(off subject - forgive me ) BUT i saw in your sig you may go turbo in the future - remember ME when you do it - we need to swap ECUs - my P5 for your MP3 - we both gain performance. (really. we do. ask around. Go Turbo *TODAY* why wait?)

For the CIA, I'd go with either K&N or Injen. I just installed my Injen this past weekend and noticed an improvement over the SRI I've had in for about 18 months. It was a very clean install with not fitament problems. I've heard the Typhoon K&N intakes are an even better fit.

e-bay for intakes, go to cartoka.com they are an e-bay seller with a nice looking product for quite cheap...as for exhaust between the two you mentioned I'd go with the Magnaflow...

I'd have to agree with GNO concerning the CAI. Go Injen. I know that the Ebay setup is cheaper, but you said you don't cut corners when it comes to your ride. The Injen installs easily, looks awesome and has a great sound. As for exhaust, between the two products you mentioned, I'd have to recommend the Magnaflow over the Bosal. I've been shopping around for an exhaust for my P5 and I heard the exhaust note of the Bosal on my buddy's MP3. I didn't like it at all. However, everyone's taste is different of course.

Scott.

My $.02

Ebay CAI with a magnaflow filter from FC3Sboy. I've been very happy with mine and I normally hate oiled filters. This one is a foam filter like the uber-expensive HKS and flows much better than any paper filter I've ever used. Also, about intake. Sure injen make s anice product but you're going to spend $250 for some piping when you could spend $60 for the same effect and NO difference in power. It's up to you though. Some people feel that they HAVE to have a name brand. I personally prefer results/cost over namebrand/bling.

As for your exhaust, do you need to remain emissions compliant? If not I would recommend an OBX 4-1 header and whatever cat-back you think looks/sounds best. There is really not a lot of power to be gained by the cat-back but there is from the header. If you need to remain emissions friendly I would HIGHLY recommend the Wagner shorty header. It bolts right up to the stock cat and made 7whp-10lb/ft on an otherwise stock P5. those are very nice gains for such an inexpensive piece. I think 03ESpro (Dan) has one for sale.

you guys rock thanks for all the info. I think i will go for the magnaflow exhaust. It just looks and sounds better than the opposing bosal. as for the intake i am holding that off at the moment. In reguards to RODDIMUS' comment on the header. I am gonna hold on the header b/c if I do decided to turbo my car the header would become obsolete. However I will keep you guys posted on what I do decide to do. Once again thanks for all the info.

turboing would make the header obsolete.....also your choice of intake as well....something to think about.

decide which way you want to go, before you spend tons of money and then end up reselling (at a loss) the parts you dont need...me....IM going NA then SC so all of my parts are reusable....well maybe not an intake...

yeah, I think all of the NA guys will be happy to have a SC option once they've maxed out the motor.

Also, if you plan on turboiong you're going to need a different cam profile than if you stay NA... you can use the NA cam profile with the SC though.

I'm sending Chris (FC3Sboy) a check next week! I'll let you all know how I like it.
