Hi all, I just bought my first Protege and am new to these forums. I tried searching for my question but wasn't able to find anything. Anyway, I just bought a 2001 Protege DX 5spd, which doesn't come with a tach, nor did it come w/an owners manual to refer to... I've been driving a stick for some time now, and have no trouble determining by sound and feel when to shift, but I don't know what the redline is or what an average speed might be in all the gears right before the redline is hit... would anyone be able to provide that information? like "30mph is the approx. redline in 1st gear" or whatever? I don't want to push it until I get a better idea...

 

just buy a cheapo tach like i did. look under the hood, behind the battery at the diagnostic thing. it's the purple wire with the white stripe. ;] thats your tach wire.
