Let's see... A turbo kit ~ $3500, racing hart rims & tires ~ $2000... You're over already, and you haven't even touched the suspension. Not to mention LSD.

My dealer just got one in, I wish I had $20k to blow

Well i see where you're coming from. I paid 15 something for my 2003 pro ES with the 5 speed. I paid 3600 for the FM turbo and then only 500 to have someone install it. Not a bad deal. The funny thing is.. I beat a Mazdaspeed at the track the other night.. We both granny shifted as our engines had 800 miles (mine) and 250 (his). I mean I took it up to about 5 grand on my rpm's and took him all the way down the strip.. granted i pushing about 8 PSI but then again.. he can take me through the twisties so until I correct that problem, I'll shut up. But i will say.. 19 grand is better then 20 something...

PS2 is bad example because they make their money on software, not hardware. But Chevrolet definitely does NOT lose money on the Corvette. It has been profitable for quite a while now, although for some time it was unprofitable or not very. If Mazda is losing any money it is on the profit end of the car (ever wonder where those thousand dollar dealer incentives come from) and it is losses over selling that person a standard Protege (for example a standard Protege nets $2k in profit but a Mazdaspeed only nets $1k). There are times when companies expect a venture to be more popular (I doubt the S2000 is actually losing money but I will use it as an example) and it is not. They cannot sell enough to reach a level where economies of scale will take place and the vehicle can become profitable. Unintentional loss is a lot different from intentional loss. The Insight and Prius are different, they are semi-proving grounds for hybrid technologies and the companies actually get an incentive from them. People are actually subsidizing the production of research vehicles and the company gains valuable information and production experience. When hybrid technology becomes pushed to other lines they will be sufficiently familiar with it to turn a profit on these vehicles (although the cost of a hybrid system has been falling rather dramatically since they started producing vehicles with it, I believe the Insight now is nearly or is profitable). Companies do not offer something at a loss when they know they are not going to be able to hook you into something else (ie computers at chains like Best Buy and Circuit City do not yield a very large profit, but the extended warranty does).

Mazda would have to prove that creating this car would entice enough people to buy non-image money losing cars in order to offset the investment and production losses. I for one would simply buy an SVT Focus or other competitors car if I couldn't get a MazdaSpeed. I would not settle for a standard Protege. A lot of other people shopping for power would do the same.

The Japanese way of doing business is a pretty bad example to use. Number one Mazda is commanded by Ford, which does business the American way (which is to make money). Number two the Japanese economy is in the crapper. Which is funny after all those stupid books for the 90's trying to get our corporations to emulate theirs.

Ok so if you had a 3" ***** would you spend the money to upgrade it to a 12" beheamath or would you just hope that the 3" works better and functions without all of the warranty beaten parts you have to buy just to make it work right?

Take a look down and see if what you have is working right?

Buy an MSP and be happy, its a ******* awesome car, it handles better than anything in its class and even out of its class.... Your P5 will never look "better" than an MSP because the MSP is a limited edition look and you can't beat that like the lapd would beat you! DIE! =) Oh and have a nice day, pie is good.
