Doing mods, will it void my warrenty?
I have a brand new Pro ES I bought about 6 months ago. It has about 6000k on it. I am thinking about doing a few engine mods and body mods. My pro has the standard Mazda 3 year 30k warrenty and an additional extention warrenty that I purchased which extends it to 6 years 60k miles.
What will and won't void my warrenty? If I add a turbo onto my car will it void the warrenty? If I add some body mods (i.e. lower car, suspension, liteglo etc.) will it void the warrenty? That would suck if I modified it and found out that the warr. I paid for is going to be void.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hey Andrew. I have heard that it all depends on your dealer. My dealer is not so friendly
A simple air intake they say voids my warranty on the car. I have lowered the car, so my suspension warranty is gone, but I can take that one. But when they say that since an air intake sucks more air, thus putting more strain on the valves, pistons, exhaust, transmission, just whatever they could think of. Later

this has been covered to death on the board... do a search (follow this link for a search on "void warranty" http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sea...der=descending).
For a quick answer, there are laws (Maguson Moss Warranty Act) in place that protect you. If you do a mod they have to be able to show that the mod specifically caused the problem.

And FYI - the standard Mazda warranty is 3 years or 50,000 miles. Not 30,000.
Unless they changed something, but I don't think so.
Jeez - hope you didn't pay extra cash for a 60,000 mile warranty! Unless it's an EXTRA 60,000, taking you to 110k.
