Talking Day 1 with my new P5!

Hi Everyone!

As of last night...I'm a new P5 owner, and I'm thrilled to death over my beautiful new car!

I've been scoping these puppies out for months now, test drove a month or so back and finally got the boyfriend's brother (salesman for another dealer) to work those connections and get me a good deal....picked out the car online (inventory listings), called him with the VIN and had him negotiate...dealer called me back and got the car secured with the credit deposit... It's amazing how easy it is to spend the money!

Such a beautiful thing the Internet is ....

Speaking of beautiful, my P5 is black with the alloy wheels, I'm having the alarm installed this weekend and family is chipping in for doo-dads like the cargo tray, wheel locks, and my man is paying for my vanity plates !

Everybody at work is asking why I'm grinning like an idiot and don't you know they get an earful...you'd think I worked for Mazda!

I even asked the salesperson if I'd get a freebie if I made my vanity plate into "MYMAZDA" -- didn't get far but hey, their loss!

Big time in love with my MP5!!!
Chrissy

Chrissy, welcome to the family....its a big and happy one....but we have our quirks like any big family does....ANYWAY...welcome again...make yourself at home.

oh btw....what are your vanity plates going to be?

I didn't get very far with mine at the dealer either...although they did like them....

hey welcome aboard. Yea about about having problems and what not, it happens very now and then but not often . I say we all just increase the peace. Youll find this board extremely helpful for any modifications or general info you might want. Check the various sections and theres certain people that are really expirienced and know what theyre talkin about and that definatly helps when getting into somethign new. So hope you find it helpful. Later on

No kidding, I saw a nice brand new Black P5 cruising Eastbound on I-95 just after the Scudder's Falls Bridge on my way home from work today (somewhere around 6:00).

That wouldn't happen to have been you?

I just picked up my new P5 this week as well. It has all the options, excluding leather, and is vivid yellow.

I originally ordered this car two months ago with the leather, but later found out that it would take months longer to get the leather and decided I didn't want to wait any longer.

So far I love the car. It handles awesome, has plenty of low-end zip, and is just fun to drive. The only complaint I have is that the hatch bumps into the end of my Thule bike rack when it's open. I wonder if there is any way to limit the travel on the hatch when it's open? I'll have to check the owners manual.

I have only seen one other P5 in the area (North Canton, OH) and it's red, so for now I have somewhat of a unique ride.

Ok now I have to chime in. I bought my Protege' 5 ...Red, of course, on 4-29....fun car....loaded, even added custom leather...looks very nice. Polished wheels, sunroof (or moonroof) what determines the name sunroof/moonroof?

I autocrossed it with 404 miles on it...didn't do well but had a buttload of fun...

Tonight I was at Popeye's Chicken and the chicken dude asked me ..."what is that car...how much did you pay?? Wow I'm gonna get me one" a future P 5 owner??? who knows...but the car is a head turner....very cool !!

Thorman -

I ended up cutting off about 1" of the Thule tray to get it to clear. Cut off from the front, and redrill the hole for the bolt that connects it to the fork mount. Cutting off the front aloows you to keep the plugs on the back of the trays.

moonroof = flass that only tilts/vents (usually manual)
Actually it has nothing to do with whether it slides or not. A moonroof is just another word for a glass sunroof. Originally it was used to distinguish glass sunroofs from metal sunroofs, but these days sunroof/moonroof mean the same thing.
