Constructive Criticism
Good job weeding out yet another bad seed. And for those of us that are still around, please bear in mind that "being a part of the auto industry" does not qualify you as an automotive genius, as our departed friend assumes. I work and live in the Detroit area, and you know how we make our livings here. You would be surprised by how many engineers I have met that have never turned a screw driver, and couldn't replace their spark plugs without reading an instruction manual on it. Most people in the auto industry do it, only because it is a good job. Sad but true.
The best way to learn about cars and be involved is to have an infectious enthusiasm for them, that causes you to save stacks of mustly old magazines and live for the free saturdays when you can get out the torque wrench and ruin a good pair of jeans. It also leads to posting on this forum, and enjoying the friendship of people that share the same enthusiasm.

we didn't "weed anyone out".....he went OT in a thread, was asked not to, got bent out of shape, couldn't take his own advice and decided on his own not to be here anymore. Kinda like whiney-kid syndrome. He's going to take his ball and play elsewhere.

Ok. Let me try to be an adult here, and possibly save a liitle face in the proccess...
Whether it be from custom, low compression pistons, or milling out the head, my opinion is that, for some FI applications, it would be beneficial to run a lower compression ratio. I understand that not everyone agrees with this, nor do I expect them to. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and the proof is in the pudding. I plan on boosting the **** out of my 2.0, and going with a little more room in the chamber, and beefing up the bottom end, etc. I have already purchased a complete turbo system( Turbonetics/Airresearch turbo, map piggyback, Tial sequential blowoff, Turbo XS boost controller, intercooler, Greddy turbo timer, and stainless piping) and was in the proccess of planning the install, when I was deployed, for the second time in 2 years, to fugging Iraq. Also, my first child(a son) was born 1 month before I left. This may account for me being a little cranky, and flying off the handle. For that I apologize. I apologize to Prime and Slomo, for any unneccesary comments that may have been made; can we let bygones be bygones? I promise to give respect where respect is due in the future. But, sometimes I just get tired of seeing people that buy base-model cars, install factory options themselves, and then think that they have a custom ride. Most of the time, it's these people that spit on the young, ambitious 16 year old that wants to throw a V8 in their civic. I assure you, a redneck with a cutting torch and a welder can accomplish some pretty "lofty" goals. Anyone remember the Suzuki Lightnings? Anyway, my point is, I think maybe we all could brush up on our people skills, including myself above all, and talk about our cars like men. Also, Roddimus Prime, I'll bring the checkbook. But, be warned, I'm saving a lot of tax-free income while I'm out here, so the install should be complete in the first couple of months after I return in Jan '06. I make a lot of trips to South Carolina, as my family resides there, so Alabama isn't out of my way. Ha Ha. I'll be seein' ya.

good luck with your turbo set-up should it ever come to fruition. I'm more than happy to race ya when you feel you're ready. Just some warning though. I'll probably be leaving this forum in 2006 when/if I pick up the new g35 GT-r like I had planned. You don't even wanna try to run that car!
just a little fyi....there is NO power adder on the protege market that makes more power per psi than my supercharger. On avergae I'm making almost 30% more power at the wheels per psi. (for comparison most turbo kits make 10whp per psi...mine is 13whp untuned and no intercooler). Also I don't have to worry so much over destroying my tranny with excessive torque from a turbo. You'll figure it out soon enough when you start getting up in the 280lb-ft range that you won't live long.
