constant windsheild streaking in winter

I have noticed that during winter, my P5's windshield is always streaking (looks like salt streaks), and does so extremely fast after spraying it. I have driven several other cars in the winter, and none seem to be so badly affected.

I'm just curious if anybody has noticed this, or if there is a common solution.

It has become annoying to have to spray the windsheild every 2-5 minutes on the highway even when there's moisture in the air. Then again, maybe that's why we have a 5L fluid tank

It's also possible that my fluid isn't the best - it's the Canadian Tire -40C green stuff. Are there brands of fluid that people would recommend?

Cheers,

Eric

I find (on all cars) that in winter, if you let the heating (on defrost) on hot and high for long, it heats the windshield enough that all the dirty water/snow that get's splashed on the windshield drys very quickly resulting in streaks. I don't know if that's what's happening to you but you might want to try lowering the heating to the windshield; the stuff won't dry on as quickly so you can just have a quick wiper shot without needing juice...

I had this problem in my Celica. My remedy: change the wiper blades. Worked like a charm. No more streaks.

Yeah mine streaks too. I was noticing that a lot this morning since it snowed yesterday and last night. I will try the wiper blade change and see if that helps. Thanks

Personally, I love the stuff Rain-X puts out. It cost a little more, but I find I don't use it as much. I think I paid about $2 for a gallon of the stuff.

And for some reason, I don't seem to have as much frost in the morning, and what I do have comes right off.

Use teflon blades and clean the blade surface frequently during the winter; the streaking will disappear.
