cel problem?

i went to go to break today and started driving and noticed that my check engine light came on... my car has 33,000 miles on it and i havent changed the plugs yet & the oil is over by 1,000 or so miles. would the plugs or oil have anything to do with the cel?? also my car just recently started jerking and bad acceleration... any suggestions would be appreciated...

It's very likely that it's the plugs. The oil has nothing to do with it. However, changing the plugs will not turn off the light, even if it fixes the problem. You will need to get the ECU scanned to clear the MIL (correct term for CEL FWIW) and that should tell you what the problem is.
