Bug Deflector

Ladies/gents,

Quick Question: I would like to get a bug deflector for my 01 Protege SE. Reason is last winter my hood was nailed by flying chunks of salt from a truck that was spraying the stuff. Had a few nice chips and dents in the area where the bug deflector would go. (Live in Soviet Cannuckistan)

Would the deflector help in limiting damage from flying salt and gravel in the winter? I know they are not meant for specific stuff like that but if the crap hits it instead of my hood so i don't have to do another repaint job.

A car bra i think does the same thing, but does it not need to be taken off every once in a while to air it out and moisture builds up underneath?
