i've ridden in a Tein coilover car and it was one of the scariest rides i've been in. I can't say it's any better or any worse but I can vouch for the quality of the Tein's.

The D2's are good pieces. I know of a few protege owners who are now using them and they all love them.

If we could backtrack for a second to the original topic of this thread, I think I may be able to finally figure out the one thing that bugs me the most about my car, which is that exact "clunking" noise from my front suspension every time I go over a bump or pull up into a driveway. So far Phil was the only one that threw out a suggestion which was balljoints, but does anyone else have any guesses? To me it seems like it comes from the transmission, it seems like the rod that goes through it and connects to the wheels (I wanna say axle but I'm not sure if that's it, English is my 2nd language so I'm not all that good at naming parts) got a little loose somehow and makes a clunk every time it has to move. I could be wrong though ...

I know why mine does it, its from the end link. The blue socket to be exact. When you have your car on the road it rattles. but if you jack it up and try to wiggle it the tenson on it keeps it from moving, thats why no one can tell what it is. I messed up the socket on mine when I put on my springs. Go get a new one installed and I'd bet thats it.

Is the clunking sound from the suspension or from brake pads rattling? Pads with out the springs at top and bottom can make a pretty good racket on a bumpy road. Can u feel the knocking in the steering wheel?

So...either:
End links
Ball Joint
CV going?

Hrrrrm...I'd say take it apart, check the parts, if they are good, re-install and make sure everything is bolted up proper.....then you'll know for sure....or at least a good idea.

That about sums it up for possibilities, as far as taking it all appart goes I don't think I'd have the ***** to undertake a project like that by myself so I might have to get together with a buddy sometime and check it out. Thanks to everyone that contributed.

Krayzie, if this is your second language, you're obviously very literate. You write better than most posters here who grew up on English. It's disturbing how badly some butcher our language. Thank you.

Man Rusty, this is not an english class it's a forum were people can be laid back and worry free of others knocking them. There are far worse things to worry about in this big word of ours (like the bad sound form this cats front suspension) then how someone uses grammer or how they spell. If it means that much to you pitch in some money so the owner of the site can put spell check on here. Lighten up man, it's all good!

Ha ha...I don't like bad grammar either...but I butcher words sometimes too....eh....I grew up on the true English system (British) and when I moved here I was failing English because the bitch said I couldn't spell (colour = color etc.) It took me forever to stop spelling **** the Brit way....look at me now...I'm a Jamerican!
