you have to unbolt it at the bottom and bring it out at the top

Both. It will come with very good instuctions. I suggest useing 4 jackstands. The only problem I had was with the heat sheild You will have to bend the front of it down so that it wont hit the shifter. But that isn't to hard. I love mine, its a great mod.

I used the factory bushings for a while. They were ok. But the kartboy bushings make a HUGE difference. THe shifts are more precise. I highly recommend getting the kartboy bushings and put those in while you're under the car.

i removed the heatshield all-together. Dead weight (imo). I also use the kartboys but didn't notice any difference.

I don't have any shifting issues. People say it will have a notchy feeling with the factory bushings but I can't tell. They don't cost much but I figured I could put the 25-30 bucks to better use.
