Auto Detailing

Hey:

I have a question about detailing. I'd like to hear from all of you about products you use to clean your Protegés.

I have had my car for less than a week, but I am already thinking ahead to its upkeep. I bought a 2003 Mica Black P5 -- WHAT WAS I THINKING????? This colour is going to keep me up all night for the rest of my life. Every bump, every drop of tree sap, every bird that ever considers aiming its infected anus at my paint. I want to get a coat of wax )actually two or three) on the paint as quickly as possible.

Before I picked the car up from the dealership, the paint was treated with some chemical process that covers the paint's protection for the life of the car, and the company claims that the car never has to be waxed (as if). Anyways, I am safe for about six months (by my standards) but I want to get on it.

So, I have been looking into Mothers Carnuba Wax or Eagle One. Any other suggestions? What is the opinion of the masses on this site as to the best paint protection product.

I would really love to hear from you.

Doug Gilmour is coming back, and you all better watch your backs.

I'm biased to Eagle One, my friend's Dad started the company, but I will say their stuff isn't good as it use to be prior to the Valvoline buyout.

Although, it's all I use and I give it high praise for long-term protection.

I've never tried it but most car nuts I've talked with about waxes and such say Zaino is the best stuff for protection and shine. (having a california car duster in the trunk, along with a thing of bug and tar wipes is a good idea too.)

I just use Turtle Wax wash and then the Turtle Wax caranuba wax on my car. Seems to work fine to me, and not ungodly expensive either.

Your dealer probably used something like Perma Plate paintguard which is either a polymer or acrylic sealant. You're right in saying you've got maybe six months; I doubt it'll last the life of your car. My Pro is black too. I start by using a Clay Magic clay bar, then Klasse All-In-One cleaner/polish, then P21S carnuba wax. I was using Klasse Sealant Glaze instead of the carnuba, but switched to the carnuba topper recently for a deeper shine.
