Talking Another PR5 Owner to add to your list...

Hey, what's up?

Just picked me up a Black 2003 Protege5, 5-speed, only options are cargo mat and roof rack. It had 3 miles on it . The best part was I got it for $16,500 (not to metion a damn good deal on my trade-in). So far I love it. It is by far the easiest car to get in and out of, and I fit in the back better than a '98 Maxima I had. Tomorrow I'll install the roof rack, because I think it looks 'plain' or 'bald' without it (like my Maxima without a sunroof visor...).

If you must know, I also have a White '93 Nissan 240sx Coupe (you can tell I am also a Nissan guy as I mention two fo 'em in just this one post ).

Anyway, I love my PR5 and hope y'all will accept me in your 'club'. I'm also on FreshAlloy.com as Nigaud240sx; you might wanna check it out - it's pretty cool.

Later!

Former Nissan owner myself (a '93 SE-R as of last month when I got my ES).
Welcome bro.

The Protege's a great car, my only goal is to make it a tad faster than my former ten-year old Sentra (that sounds really bad doesn't it )

Got a question...it really wasn't supposed to come with the roof rack option (wasn't included in the price and wasn't on the sticker) but it surprisingly did. I am fighting myself over whether to put it on or not. IMO it looks kind of 'bald' without it, but it does have nice flowing lines. With it, IMO, it looks rugged and ready to take on the world. BUT, it adds wind noise and turbulence. Not sure if I'll ever use it or not (probably not) but I do like the looks. Don't having to remove it for automatic car washes though. Any help?

The roof rack is included with the car in the US market. By this I mean the two rails that run the length of the car, and the two cross bars (one is adjustable) that fit in the rails. These come installed on the car.

You should have gotten four plastic cover pieces to screw down where the cross bars went, should you feel the urge to remove them.

I too have a black P5...it's a 2002.5. The only option was a moonroof. Congrats on your purchase; they're fun little cars. Mine has about 8500 miles on it already; got it in July.

Yea I just learned that it was included (it's not on the car as of now).

When I first got into it at the dealer there were 3 miles on it. After the test drive, there were 10. This was yesterday. Now there's about 300 on it

Oh another question...

Does anyone know how to convert it to daytime running lights (without the original option)? I mean, shouldn't it just be a simple relay or something?

Welcome to the club. IMO, I like the P5 w/out the roof racks, but to each his own. Hope you enjoy your P5.

enjoy the car...they are fun at the expense of being a useful wagon

roof racks may look neat but create drag that increases wind noise and reduces gas mileage...i like to give a to those who leave on the rooftop yakima racks when not using them...most i know use them 1-2 times a year and leave them on b/c they look cool

Ah, jaje, what's up? Nice to see a fellow FA guy on here. I've decided to leave them off. Even though the car looks kind of 'bald' to me, I think in the the car and I will benefit better with them off.

Nigaud, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

I just picked up my 2003 Midnight blue P5 last week, and I specifically told them NOT to put on the crossbars. I like the look of the plain rails- much sleeker. With the corssbars, it looks much more like a "station wagon". Plus, I would never use the bars anyway.

It's a great car- I love it! Nicer interior than some cars costing $30k+!!

nicer?...maybe it looks nicer but my 4k pr5's interior is more worn than our 15k+ mile civic...plus it already has 3-4 different rattles and the engine sounds like it needs a valve job when i first start it up
