Alu Pedal set for Pro5 only.

Hi All,

I know someone that can fabricate a pedal set (Accelerator/Brakes/Clutch) for our Pro5. Not sure yet about the pricing but I 'm confident it'll be affordable. This guy made my accelerator pedal for my 3rd gen RX7. Works and looks great. I think that cost me $20. What's cool about is that is the pedal are attached via screws (I had to do some drilling). Advantage to that is that it's not bulky at all. I looked at other sets and saw that you have all this stuff in the back to mess with. I have schematics available on e-mail. This is the design I gave him but I think I was hole happy. I told him to feel free to change stuff around and round the edges. He'll have something for me by the end of the week. I saw a chromed aluminum set at the dealer yesterday for $99 plus tax. I thought it was too insane to pay $100 bucks for pedals. Let me know if there are interests on this. Since I am getting the first set, I'll take pics of it and show you guys how the install went and how the end product looks like.

Laters,
Jason

Anybody have any spare turbos for p5 I could have? Hehehee

Well, I got a set of OBX Type-R pedals (Polished, not chrome) off of ebay for $30. Sure yours are cheaper, but this was a 4 pedal set (including the dead pedal), attaches by clips that actually hold very well if attached properly and have not had any problems with the bulkiness you speak of. Here is a PIC of the ones I got. I will have pictures of the actual install any day. I would like to see a picture of yours after they are designed.

I installed Razo pedals in my P5 yesterday...

I also don't particularly like the mounting system on these.

Installation is pretty easy:
Once I was happy with the pedal layout,I marked where to drill 4 holes.

These new holes are used as a template to mark/drill into the rubber cover and the metal
factory pedal itself.

I believe this method is much more secure than those swinging arms, and bars there
system outlines.

I have installed similar pedals in the same manner on my DD (240z) w/ZERO problems for years...

The Razo kit I purchased was not my original choice...I was originally looking at
omp or sparco's, but my honey said "what pedals are on your car? I don't want no imitation".

What I am trying to say is that there are several to chose from....

I must say, these pedals do compliment the cockpit.

hope this helps,
manny

I just got the obx pedals off ebay too, and they look really cool. I haven't installed them yet, but they were a steal at $26.

Wow...Thanks for the links guys. I found a couple of s stuff that I liked. I really wanted the RAZO carbons, but I'm still having an issue spending $60. Around $30 would be awesome. Especially with a dead pedal included. Well...I'm getting my subs hooked up this afternoon. I'll see you all soon...

Thanks,
Jason

PS_I'm having a tough time adjusting on parts pricing from my Seven to My P5. Everything is a whole lot cheaper. I like that.

Another thing funny is that when I am switching between cars, the clutch is waaaay different. Also big diff on HP 140 vs 300. I really get to appreciate both cars even more. P5= Comfort / RX7=Will bite when provoked, chew you up and spit you out. I can't wait to get a turboset for the P5.

I haven't installed my obx set yet, and would love to see the pics of your install. I'll be sure to check back often to see if they're up.

Hey Guys, Nice pedals! I checked ebay however I could not find any OBX Pedal sets for the P5. Do any of the OBX sets work with the p5 as long as it is the normal pedal size? Can you send me a link of the one you got? Thanks!

As far as ebay, just search for OBX pedals and there is a universal kit that works quite well on our cars. Not a specific set for the P5, but it works.

I will post a picture when I get home from work about 6pm EST.

Sorry dude...

It's special to me because it's my car! ...but as far as it being special because it's unlike any other cars or Proteges? Yes and no but not really I guess, but I didn't have enough money to buy an MP3 aside from my P5. I don't know what differences there are engine/interior wise that sets it aside from other Proteges. If there's not, then that is awesome. More aftermmarket parts to trade around! This thread got started as a P5 thread because that is what I have in my garage and that is what I am working on. Dude, If a had a sedan or an MP3, I'd fabricate or create a template too. Isn't this what it's all about? Having the same car but putting in that little extra or "personalized" to identify it as your own? Like...check out this ride with customized everything that separates it from evertything else and it has some parts that has been fabricated so that it could not be bought in stores. Having an RX7 and meeting some of these guys @ RX7club.com and seeing the way they mod their cars will inspire you. They have stuff that have been fabricated and makes me want the same thing even more. It's the same enthusiasm.

It's just not this car or P5. I think it's every car I get my little hands on. I don't care if it's a pinto. It'll be one of the sickest pinto in Atlanta. Slammed, wire wheels, and curbfeelers to boot.

Take a chill pill or smoke a joint. It's only pedals.
ADMINISTRATOR!

Laters,
Jason

You know....

We can go on and on about this. Research? What the heck, but fine. All I wanted to know is WHO would like to have a set of pedals fabricated for their P5. I could give a crap about any other proteges. Personalized and different from any other set. That's all.

You know....You try to do something for others....

Whatever........ I was not out of bounds when I posted this thread. Maybe I'm doing research on who would want this service done. You maybe administrator but that doesn't mean that you can decide what I can post next. What about those folks that ask....Do I get a white Pro5 or a red p5? OPINIONS!!!!!! Read the replies....Others helped me more by showing what they have or by attaching links to a good set.

I'm POff'd now... I'm going to play with my cars. Better yet do you wanna go for a run somewhere?

Rider69 ----Nice, very nice!

Thanks. And don't worry about it. Sometimes people just get a little ansy about what others post. I understand that you should do some research before posting (helps with bandwith and all ) but sometimes it is just easier. Enjoy your own fabricated pedals or aftermarket ones if you go that route.

Manufacured Pedals

Hey Pr5monkey

I'd be interested in hearing about what your friend can do. I just installed a set of aluminum Ractive pedals and I'm not so happy with them. If you can come up with something cool I'd be interested. PM me

We have a CNC milling machine at work and I thought i couldn't be too hard to draw something up in Solid Edge and then mill it on the machine. The guys tell me if you could design it then can program it in and out it comes. We buy Billet Aluminum by the bucketful.

Anyone else make their own pedals? Wondering about Mazda Logo on the pedals or something like that.

Any thoughts?

ok, why just for p5's? it's the same for all of them. i wasn't going to reply until you said you could give a crap about any other protege's because i didn't care until then. they're all the same bro, they just look a little different on the outside. this isn't protege5club, it's protegeclub. why? because it's the same car. as for going for a run... protege agaisnt protege5... if i were in ga, i'd say definately.
