I agree totally, Ron.

I don't know why you are all knocking aftermarket moonroofs.

These are NOT the crappy, leaky, manual flip-up style POS things from years ago.

I got my roof installed thru the dealer before picking up my P5 last year. I was charged about $500 if I remember correctly, which was the DEALER price for the factory roof - list was $800 I think.

It looks perfect - and functions BETTER that anyone's factory roof. First off, I have a simple little switch in the blank near the change holder and fog light button - none of that bulky overhead stuff. It's a one-touch open and close - I do NOT have to hold the button to open or close the roof. It does the same slide-back (inside the roof like factory - not the outside "spoiler" looking crap) and tilt as the factory roof. And mine CLOSES ITSELF when I shut the car down - about 10 seconds after the car is off.

I've had the car almost a year and a half, and have had no problems with it at all. My only issues were: When it was first installed the auto-backup (if it hits something) was too sensitive, and the unit would close halfway and re-open if I was on the highway and tried to close it (the wind would activate the back-up). Holding the close button solved it temporarily, and then it was adjusted by the dealer at no charge - fixed 100%. And it is a little bit noisy at highway speed - the install shop has said it is a simple fix, and they will adjust it for me anytime I want, but I'm just a bit lazy and haven't gotten around to it yet.

The roof IS included in the 3 year/50k mile factory warranty. After that, the manufacturer's LIFETIME warranty is still there. Any problems, any time for the life of the car get fixed for nothing at an authorized shop.

The roof is made by SolAire. I am 100% satisfied with it.

I was a bit wary of it at first, but the promise of full warranty coverage eased my nerves enough to let them install it when I ordered the car.

Don't knock it 'till you try it.

Properly installed,

This is why I have a problem with aftermarket sunroofs. What are the chances of it being done right? I am glad you had no problems with yours but for everyone person that had no problems there are 10 that did. So the question comes down to: do i want to take that risk? I certainly would not.
