Almost got my 03 p5!

Hey guys, i'm probably gonna get an 03 Laser Blue P5 but it only has ABS. The dealer said he could install a 6-disc changer, and my dad was telling me that i could get a moonroof installed aftermarket, but it feels kinda iffy.
Have you guys ever had a moonroof or 6-disc in-dash changer installed after buying the car?
How much did u guys get ur 03 p5s for?
Thanks!

the cd changer is either installed at the dealership or at the port anyways. i doubt its installed at the factory.
don't know about sunroofs. all i know is if i was offered a free one to be installed by an aftermarket company i still would not get it.

Take sawzal mark off roof where hole goes. Notive headliner in way. You will have to take the headliner down and really do some reinfocement on the roof panel for the sunroof. If not go and buy a rv skylight lol.

Exclamation

An aftermarket moonroof, like the other dude said, "i woudn't touch with a 10-ft pole", an aftermarket CD changer however is something you could even install yourself.

You can get a Protege 5 without the sunroof?? Must be a U.S. thing, when I picked up my Laser Blue P5 the only trim level was ES and it came with a sunroof. Bad choice if your looking at an aftermarket sunroof, I'd follow everyone elses advise and have it factory installed.

Sorry to burst your bubble here, but the only available option on the P5 in Canada is Sun roof and AC.

Alrite, finally got rid of the celica tonite and went and started doing the paperwork for the mp5. They are gonna have to fedex back and forth a couple states to my parents so i won't be able to have the car until friday, but i'll be out of town until monday morning, so im gonna pick it up then.
It's an 03 Laser Blue with ABS and it was just sittin on the showroom floor looking pretty. And damn, is it hot. It has 3 miles and the roof rack hsant been installed yet so it looks even cleaner :P

Get the moonroof option instead from the dealer and forget the cd changer. Go buy yourself an mp3 deck to replace the original and you don't need a cd changer 'cause an mp3 disc will hold more music than a 6 disc changer would. my 2 cents

RE the Moonroof and the 6-CD changer. In Canada the P5 ES is offred with 2 options. A power moonroof ($800 cdn; about $500 usd and Air Conditioning $1000 cdn) It's almost impossible to find one without air however. The car comes with single CD player factory installed. The 6 CD is dealer installed and costs $700 cdn. You can get one a lot cheaper at your local audio store.

Obviously no one on this thread has owned an aftermarket sunroof. I have have owned two, I had them installed on vehicles on which sunroofs were either unavailable (Toyota Tacoma) or hard to get (early model Rav-4). I can tell you that the roofs look and performed every bit as well as factory, came with lifetime parts and labor warranty, and had features still unavailable on the OEM units. Properly installed, there is no longevity issue with the since ASC commonly makes both the OEM and aftermarket roofs. Still, obviously given a choice, it is cheaper and easier to buy a car with the roof already installed.
