Air Conditioning Problems

Quite frequently I find my AC shutting off when i have the fan on the number 2 position. I can keep pressing the AC button on and off and it does not come back on until I switch the fan to either 1 or 3. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have noticed that too on mine. Im not sure about the fan settings tho. I figured that the light was just going in and out. It was so hot I couldnt tell that it was really even on ... just a bit cooler.

you can tell when the air goes off because all of a sudden you can smell the damp humid air coming in. That's what clued me in on this. My car goes in for the 20K checkup next month, so hopefully I'll find something out from the good ole boys at mazda.

I took mine to the dealer last week only to find out that they has to be coolent in the res for the air to work. They filled my res and it came back on. It must be some kind of safety feature. I had never seen this before. They see lots of pro's for this problem.

was there no coolant in your resevoir at all? I'm saying that the AC flickers on and off in the number 2 position. Once change the fan speed to higher or lower, the AC comes back on again.

My AC light started blinking on and off for some reason. It happened twice since I got the car new. I think the AC could be colder as well. Toyota is the **** when it comes to heat and AC. It heats up quickly and can freeze you. As for the blinking AC light, it is intermittent and happened only 2x. A guy on this forum told me that it happened to him and the AC went on it. I just hope my warranty doesn't expire if that happens!
