After Clutch Chatter Fixed
#16
Yikes. I have the same clutch-rattle issue on my P5. I'd love to take it in, but like you, I fear that after getting it back there will be some other issue caused by the dealer's work.
You can't blame me though-- every trip to a dealer to fix a problem on any of my cars has fixed the orignal problem, but other unrelated ones mysteriously came up soon afterwards.
I'm scared!

I think my own Protege dislikes the dealer, or at least this one. They couldn't reproduce my clutch/tranny issue-SUPRISE SUPRISE- and the rattling door, grinding sunroof, mysteriously stopped that day and began again with in 24 hours! And the end all of this is our Explore Sporttrack (02) began stalling while coasting at about 30mph on that same day! Its in the shop this very moment. I'm probably going to change dealers anyway, the current one never washes my car or vacumes it out-petty? Maybe, but I've always recieved my car repaired and cleaner than when dropped off from other dealers. On the up and up had some fun playing with an older BMW 2002 the other day on some twisties, God I love this car!

Sorry! Off Topic...
Sorry this is off topic, but in regards to the Ford Explorer Sport Trac, it unfortunately should come as no surprise that you're having problems with that vehicle-- It's quite honestly among the worst vehicles currently being built anywhere, exhibiting a reliability index nearly 40% worse than the average car. Your situation could only be worse if you drove a Chevrolet S-10 of GMC Sonoma.
Bad vehicle! Bad! No buscuit!

I don't know how you get that. Its basically a Ranger suspension with an Explorer engine and transmission. Both vehicles that are considered reliable. Not something new and revolutionary, just an Explorer Sport with the back roof chopped off. And the 4.0L it comes with is a damn good engine, right up there with the 4.6L modular V8. I've never had a car have so many annoying problems right off the bat until I bought a "reliable" Mazda. At least all the Fords in my family had the decency to go at least 50k miles without developing an annoying engine noise, clutch stutter, or transmission problem.
