Question ac problem

small problem, in our LX, the ac seemed to shut off and on on me today. It appears to do this less with the fan set on circulation inside, (max ac) When on normal circulation the ac light would go off and on quite a bit, I tried leaving off for a while and it still happened. This all started upon starting the car after it had been sitting for a few hours. Upon starting the ac smelled quite musty, (normal for a hot day and sitting afterward) but the smell lessened but didn't really go away. Before hand, the car had been on Max AC the whole trip cause, 1. it was pretty warm inside the black furnace, and 2. the ac just didn't seem to keep up. I'm wondering if it needs to be recharged? The car's at 23k and only about a year and a half old so I thought it was a little early for this. Also wondering if the condensor may be going? The big question would be why is the ac light going on and off?

SOunds like it's maybe leaky or needs a recharge.
As for the light, the compressor cycles on/off a lot more when the system is low, maybe the light cycles on/off with it? Can you hear the compressor kicking in and turning off a lot?

Yea the compressor was cycling on and off. I'll get it looked at by the dealer in a few days or so.

the compresor will also cycle on and off more often at low fan speeds to keep the compressor from freezing over.
