I've got the intake and exhaust cams, a short ram intake (longer than the AEM or Injen shorty), my header, a custom 2.25" head pipe from the 1st cat to the 2nd cat including enlarging the cat opening to 2.05 from 1.71 and then 2.5" from the 2nd cat back. Picked up about 12.5 lb/ft of torque and 17 HP total over stock.

WOT or Brake!

On the original thread, what's this $hit about coasting/light throttle. You're supposed to have your foot to the floor, or mashing the brake! Performance driving, right?! hehehe...

try this on for size...

For the guys with new Pros, pull out your sparkplugs and chec the gap.

For the guys with some time on the ODO, replace your sparkplugs and make sure the gap is right.

I noticed that my car wasn't running as smooth as it use to, or as I'd liked it to, so I did a tune up(sparkplugs), checked the throttle plate for coaking. When I took the plugs out I noticed they were gapped form .038 to .048 from my dealer(they put them in one day when trying to fix a fuel starvation problem ). I reset the ECU as well to clear the memory, and when I was test driving it/touring, the "boinking " was gone! I also noticed that my car didn't feel as fast, but seat of the pants dosen't mean sht!

Give it a try, it's cheap and your plugs might be due anyway...worked for me!

I just did that last night. I gapped them all to .040 and checked the compression while they were out. It's right on spec at 170 psi. Also, 2 of the plugs were slightly loose. I haven't taken it out and driven it, but I'm sure that will help it run better.

I've had it on the dyno all through modifying it so far. The low end HP and torque are about stock or very slightly higher until 3500 RPM and then the HP and Torque pull away nicely. Max HP is up to 113.4 and the torque is up to 119. The first time I tested it I already had the intake cam in and it made 101 HP and 108.9 TQ. Stock should have been 96-98 but I never tested it before the intake cam. The first thing the car really needs is a good intake w/filter though. The stock box just won't work no matter what you do to it. As far as mileage, last time I checked I was at 29.5 but I've been playing with it pretty hard. I'll have to run around and keep my foot out of it to see what it gets now. I was up to 31 MPG before I put the header and the rear half of the exhaust on. Also the intake wasn't on then. I'll drive it around this weekend and see what kind of mileage it gets when I keep my foot out of it. It's been so much fun though, I hate to do that!
Hey Traveler,

I like the increases your getting, jus wondering what that would be in crank HP compared to the stock motor or even a FS-ZE? Would you have 150 HP at the crank or am I way off ?

some comments on making a p5 ECU into a mp3 ECU:

the link might only get you 99% of the way. look "under the hood" to get all the way.

At 113.4 whp, I should be sitting at about 145-7 at the crank. Keep in mind that the FS-ZE is actually 160 HP the way we rate HP in the U.S. 170 is the Japanese HP which is rated differently. This thing really needs engine management. I'm sure there's a ton more power just in tuning. Ignition curve sucks, and the fuel curve is made to keep people from EVER running lean. It will probably run on dirty 80 octane in the third world but it won't make near the power it could. I wish they made it so you could re-burn the memory.
