99 ES fuel filter(s)

Howdy all,

I'm thinking of changing the fuel filter(s) on my 99 ES. The car has 65k on the original filters, and although the service schedule doesn't say they need to be changed, I'd like to do it anyway as insurance.

Just curious about a few things:
1) Was it hard to get the fuel pump assembly out of the gas tank? Any hints?
2) Was the gasket that seals the fuel pump assembly to the tank reusable? The service manual says "Replace" next to it, but it says that for every gasket on the car. It's expensive, and if it's one of the tough rubber gaskets, I'm considering just slathering the old one with Form-a-Gasket and reinstalling it. Since it won't have any real pressure on it, I think this will work. Comments?
3) Did you replace both filters or just the low-pressure filter? It seems to me that the low-pressure filter would catch most the gunk, and it's much cheaper than the high-pressure filter
Comments?

TIA,
