Does anyone else here think the exterior of the 99-00 models look much better? I like the classy look compared to the bloated girly face of the the new ones. On the other hand the Protege5 and MP3 front ends look great.

The 99-00 front end in my opinion is more bold. i have a 01 and i find its front is sleeker. its preference. i like the 01 better, but only cause the lights on the 01 is nicer. but im not too pleased that the corners on mine cant be removed.

 

I like the front bumper of the 99-00's a lot better. But I like the headlights and the hood of the 01's. It looks like the hood indents in a bit more, which I like. Maybe it's just the pictures though. But I definately like the 99-00 front end better aside from the headlights.

 

car for car i much mor eprefer the 01, my friend owns a 99, and when i was car shopping thats how i thought the protge still looked and i was not impressed at all, but when i saw the 01, i became much happier with it, to tell u the truth, the moment i saw one on the dealership, i walked up to the dealer asked them if they had it in balck, and then said, im buying this car, came back 2 days later and bought it

 

your right the 01-02 fogs cant be aimed. and the dealer wants to charge me 280 for the case alone after a rock took out my drivers side one. now i envy the p5 owners where u can swap in piaa fog lights. or a set of hella's

yeah, i definately like the new hoods better. i like how its inset or whatever. give it a more aggressive look imo.

 

i meant a stone. not like i go bashing rocks. it happened on the trans canada hwy on a stretch where the was construction. bad luck i guess. i just heard a loud smash after a pickup passed head on and it was my fog light

 

from the looks of those pictures, the hoods look different to me. i'll go look at my car in a few when i go to leave for work, but i'm pretty sure the center of the hood isn't inset like the ones on the 01, and p5 in the pictures. the picture of the blue 99-00 in those pictures doesn't look the same as the 01-02's. call me crazy... but they look different. i'm not looking for a big debate on this... because i could be wrong. i'm just saying they "look" different in those pictures.

Those fogs for the 99/00 look great! I wonder if Mazda is selling them cheaper now. When I got my 99 the price was like $250-300 for them, so I decided to wait.

 

I never heard of that 3M stuff. i knew they had rock guard and i though you were mocking me as i usually am. thanks. i probably will rock guard them now. how expensive is that stuff? and any ideas where i can get some?

I like the 3rd and 1st Gen Protes.
I saw a brand new 2002 DX yesterday, was the same price of an LX that was loaded. So dont ANYONE say the DX is a cheap car!!!
