4 yr warranty?

Whats this standard 4yr/50k mile warranty "rumor" thats going around the net? Ive read it on several boards. Mazda USA.com still states that all Mazdas have a 3yr/50k mile warranty. Anyone else heard this?

My P5 is covered under warranty for 5 years. When I was buying my car, the bank wouldnt approve the loan to me and the dealer if I didnt have all 5 years that I financed my car for covered. So the dealer when ahead and gave it to me. I wasnt about to pay for that crap, so the dealer dropped the price of the car....and squeezed in the extra 2 years so it showed that i payed for it.

I understand that you can buy an extended warranty, but the "rumor" is all 2003 have a 4yr/50k warranty. See the links below...

The rumor I saw on the other board is that in Canada only, the warranty was bumped from 3/50 to 4/50. I have no idea if it's true though.

It could happen.....after all...its a good selling point. A lot of car makers are upping their warrantee coverage to compete with the others...if you remember...Chrystler was the first to really go out there with their 7/70 a lot of years ago...then after they got back in the market they dropped it back to 3/36 on most every model....NOW you have companies offering 10/100....pretty attractive to some people that wouldn't mind buying a car and now having to worry about the drive train for the entire time they own it. SO, at this point the mazda increase in warrantee is still rumor....but it wouldn't surprise me if it were true.

Not Canada...as warranties here are 5yr / 100,000km (62,000 miles). This is one of the reasons why the Mazdaspeed Protege is still delayed, as Calloway isn't prepared to increase the warranty by two years as compared to what they do in the US.
One thing that might the result of the rumor, when I bought my P5 they offered me an extended warrenty on the bumper to bumper. 1 extra year for 200 bux. Now that i think about it I should have taken it.
Oh well

I bought my car in Mississauga (part of the Greater Toronto Area), and the standard warranty, along with documentation I have from the time of purchase is 3yrs/80,000KM (not miles!).

As to whether that has changed, I do not know. This was the warranty as of October 29th, the day I picked up my car!

It's confirmed. At least in the U.S, all 2003 models will carry a 4yr./50k mile warranty.

Taken from MazdaUSA site today, maybe they havent updated it yet???

"Mazda "bumper-to-bumper" Limited Warranty

We design and build every Mazda to give you driving pleasure now and far down the road. We're so confident in our quality that we cover the entire vehicle against defects in materials and workmanship for 36 months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. That's 14,000 more miles than you'll get from many of our competitors. We cover the car "bumper-to-bumper"-every Mazda-supplied part from the badge on the grille to the license-plate light to the toot of the horn. It's another way we demonstrate our pride and confidence in every product that wears the Mazda brand name.

This limited warranty is transferable, and it's included on all new Mazda vehicles sold and serviced in the United States. See your Mazda Dealer for complete details.

Other warranty exclusions may apply. Refer to the Warranty Information Booklet and Owner's Manual found in your glove box."
