if that's the factory sub it looks pretty cool. I wonder how durable it is though. My luck I'd throw a crowbar or hammer in the back and bust it.

OK, if that is indeed the one that Mazda is selling... that is a Pioneer part (TS-WX50A as shown in the picture).

I actually think that it's a neat idea for a little more bass for the car. Anyone know if you can get these in the US aftermarket, I did a quick search and could only find european references.

I would drop www.mazdastuff.com a note with the part number TheMAN posted above, they seem to have some of the more reasonable prices on the web for Mazda OEM parts.

UPDATE: I just sent an e-mail myself, I'll post what I get back.

You might not be able to just put it in your p5. When I was waiting at the dealership a salesman showed me the subwoofer and also pointed out that there is a new tray under there too. The subwoofer might have stuck up too high so they added the tray to raise the floor around the sub so that it would be level. If that is why it is there you will also have to order the tray.

No lie I shake my head to shame and sometimes laugh when I see those ugly wheels. WTF were they thinking. The old older 15" alloys from the 99-01 proteges were WAAAAYYYYYY better.

Actually, it's the 99+ MPV wiper stalk that'll fit and work.

Check here: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...threadid=18335

As soon as I get some free time, I plan on finding a junkyard with a 99+ MPV and snagging the wiper stalk from there - hopefully.

Hey, you guys found my picture! Excellent, the sub does sound great, but it does raise the floor up about 2". You can't buy it from Pioneer yes as it's not available in the US.

Got a reply from Mazdastuff on the cost of the subwoofer unit. It would be ~200 USD for it, but it is not available yet and the Mazda Parts Availability shows the time of arrival as TBD.

Just thought I would follow up.
