Deceptipro, I'm near Lougheed Mall.....
As for the bumper, it shouldn't be too hard taking it down, and putting the other one on, but where's the sensor that activates the air bags. That'd be a byatch, if those things went off, more then 1000$ to replace them......

Cool, Makaveli. My e-mail is deejaypee@shaw.ca
Drop me a line.
Yeah, it WOULD be cheaper, if I knew what the hell I was doing... But I'd rather not risk it...especially with the chance of triggering the air bags...

Ummm. Disconnect the battery terminals and remove the fuse. That should do it. I'm pretty sure our Pro's don't have the secondary system that deploys the airbags when the fuse has blown.

I drive 2001 protege DX, I just got my bumper last month which i have order since early september 2001. Can I just install the bumper without changing the rebar, what wrong with the rebar? is it too low? or too wide?
I am afraid that if I have to order them it might takes them forever to send me.
I am wondering if the local body shop can modify the fitmen for the front bumper. Any suggestion? and how much the price for rebar? and body have done before? and how about labor?
just for info, I bought my front bumper for $280 - $310 ( forget where I put the damn receipt ), and I dont buy the fog light because they want to charge me for $ 450 both. This prices given by Browning Cherritos Mazda (los angeles).
remeber I got this bumper after i wait them for 4 months
Info please

damn, you waited a long time....
don't know about the rebar, ?I mean it's not like they charge 275$ CDN for nothing, so I guess you gotta get one of those too.... not sure though, ask Dr. Evil, as he knows more then I do........

MP3 bumper is too wide for the stock rebar. You can get the stock rebar modified to fit it but it's probably cheaper to just get the rebar through Mazda. You shouldn't have to wait so long as it's the same rebar used on the P5. Thus, it's not a limited production part.

I got an MP3 bumper that standing in my living room right now and I am waiting for a free time to install them .
After I am reading from the prowners.com FAQ about installing the bumper I start to got confuse.
Is rebar just another name for saying front fender wells or is it actually two different things?
"Front fender wells will
have to be replaced to accommodate the lower front bumper"
Is it same as changing the rebar? please give me the parts number too... so i can order the parts from local dealer immidietly.
thanks

Sorry this took so long. Harddrive crashed and registry corrupted on me. Stupid POS Windows.
To answer your question, NO these are not the same thing. Rebar is what the bumper actually mounts on. If you take off your stock bumper you will see what I'm talking about. The front fender wells are what come down inside in front of the front wheels. The ones you ahve now come down to the bottom of the bumper. The MP3 bumper is lower so the stock fender wells will be too short.
Hope this helps. Oh and I don't have the part numbers handy. If I got more time later I'll get them.

The rear skirt will bolt on perfectly.
The side skirts are a direct bolt-on, and should be no problem as long as you don't have anything blocking the holes (ie. mud guards).
The front bumper is a little more work, with the bumper being a different size, the rebar needs to be replaced with the MP3/P5 rebar...still, as I understand it, they all bolt on perfectly.
I'll probably be getting my stuff done in installments.... I'll get the front bumper done within the next couple months...and I hope to get the side skirts done by summer. Don't know about the rear skirt yet...it'll probably happen eventually.

Ic ...
so the rebar is what hold the bumper ha... thanks..
in that case i dont need to buy the bumper reinforcement right? because the dealer charge me $ 220 for that reiforcement.
by the way where do you get the side skirt from, i got mine from erebuni for about $ 320 /pair (little expensive for me), because dealer only sale front bumper and rear skirt. Also the this sideskirt will not looks as nice as its in the picture... damn..
for spoiler do you gonna add some? i got mine a costom which supposbly used for lancer evo III and its very light too.
How much the body shop charging you? they charge me for $ 600 paint and install? and i dont know weather its a good price or not
thankys .... hope to see your car on the road soon...

Weird...because the dealer that I asked had no record of a rear skirt on their computer... I'll probably be going to the aftermarket for the side skirts as well.
As for a spoiler, I don't think I'll get one... If I were to get a spoiler, I wouldn't get a stock one...on the other hand, I don't like any of the custom spoilers out there. So, I opt not to get one at all.
I haven't even looked at prices for painting and labour... painting shouldn't be THAT expensive, though... parts are factory primed... I'm guessing the paint job would be around $200... another $400 for labour doesn't seem very reasonable to me.
I have a friend who works at a detail shop, so I hope to get his help and knock off a chunk of the cost there.

Yup its only spoiler taken
from lancer evolution III (older style),
my car is 3rd geneneration.
well i try the spoiler its fits nicely, but the rest i am not sure.
Many people go with custom... some times its cheaper.
I asked shop close to me (www.thebombshop.com)
and they give me quote for$ 2000 including bodykit which you can choose the style from erebuni, wingswest or VIS and installation.
Check their webside and look their work,
if you want to make wide body or change headlight,
it gonna run you more $$$.
I know $ 2000 is very expensive, but
custom work dont come chep. Also you have to leave your car for atleast 1 week.
BUt dont you feel happy when your bodykit is nice then other?
