Hmm that looks like a Subaru diff. under there...

I like calling my WRX a "Scooby..." 'Cause the RX-7 is the true 'Rex'

So basically the point of these exhaust hangers is just to provide a tighter grip? The stock ones are too loose for aftermarket exhausts and bang around? Sorry I still have a lot to learn. Mine don't look too great down there, plus just about every bushing anywhere is shot...

Well, they're stiffer so they permit less movement of the exhaust system. The stock ones seemed to soft for my aftermarket exhaust system, due to the larger size and greater flow of gasses. YMMV.

So basically the stock hangers are just softer because they're cheaper, and can get away with it on the stock exhaust?

Maybe. Or maybe they used a softer material to dampen the vibrations transmitted through the frame to the passenger compartment. Maybe both.

I don't really know.

Why not use the Kartboy hangers for the support, and stick a little rubber around the inside to dampen vibrations, too? Get the best of both worlds while you're at it.

I have them on my car as well. And they helped with some of the noise I had on my Mazdaspeed Axle back. I'm very happy with them.

What kind of noises are you talking about? The loud resonance in the car at highway speeds? If so, then alot of people will buy these hangers since that exhaust is quite loud at around 3-3.5kRPM.

Yup thats what i'm talking about. But remember my car is a
sedan. I know people have had more problems with the p5
version. Also my insert is what took most of the resonance out.
check this thread out: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...5&pagenumber=8

The hangers helped out even more. For some reason raising
closer to the body of the car quieted down a little bit more. But
it might be different for others.

Unhappy

Well, I got them, and they won't work for me. I installed the rears (12mm,) and it made a nice improvement in keeping the muffler from swaying around, but brought it up too close to the rear bumper cover (Racing Beat catback on a P5.) The muffler tip would hit the bumper cover constantly. I even tried using just one of the KartBoy's, and a stock rubber, no help.

So, off they came. Live and learn.....

If anyone want's a set (4) for $30 shipped, let me know jmackenz@insight.rr.com I won't be using them.

I can think of plenty of things better than a tight muffler...
