What synthetic transaxle lube should I get?
It's time to put Mobil1 in the engine, so I'm just gonna go for it all at once at Jiffy Lube...beats changing my oil in the snow...haha. What kind of transaxle lube should I put in my beloved Pro?

Ooooo...ok. That was the first place that came to mind ...but it would be easier for me to take my car someplace, I don't mind changing oil, but I've never done a tranny before (I know it can't be that hard), but I don't have ramps or really any place to put the oil and transport it to disposal places (I'm at college right now). I've never gone to Jiffy Lube, but I meant just some place the changes oil. I'm sorry if I'm repsonsible for any bricks...haha.

I made an appointment to get both changed at the local speed shop--Excessive Autosports. I ended up getting Mobil 1 tranny oil too, being that none of these good ol' Detroit Iron boys have heard of Redline oil, and therefore they don't carry it.

Mobil 1 wouldn't be bad though, would it? I already bought it and I don't know if the place would take it back, even though it's unopened. I don't have time to order it either, the appointment is in a week.

I'm not actually around Detroit...just going to college in the midwest (SD), no one has really even heard terms like "Protege" or even "Vtec." I'm originally from Colorado Springs, and there are a lot of imports there, where as the compact of choice out here is the Cavalier (ugh). I just assumed that since a lot of people use Red Line in their imports back home, it was an import thing.

I have used Redline MTF in a car and was not terribly happy w/ the results. Maybe it was the car, but I developed a 2nd gear grind that was substantially ameliorated (tho not entirely eliminated) by switching back to Honda MTF.
I have heard from a number of people that GM Synchromesh MTF is the best stuff you can pour into a manual tranny. The same stuff they sell OTC at the Chevy dealer and pour into Cavaliers is what GM race teams use.
