What synthetic transaxle lube should I get?

It's time to put Mobil1 in the engine, so I'm just gonna go for it all at once at Jiffy Lube...beats changing my oil in the snow...haha. What kind of transaxle lube should I put in my beloved Pro?

i'll be outside in the snow on sunday... changing my oil. jiffy lube is the last place my car will ever see, unless it's from a distance, and that distance is growing as i drive away from it as fast as possible. someone posted the BBB's report on them a while back, and they had the most complaints out of any other company like them. take it somewhere you know will do a good job if you don't want to do the job in the cold.

I've heard horrible stories from them. Things like not replacing the drain bolt, reusing old filters and oil! Stay away from Jiffy Lube. 15 minutes in the snow won't kill you.

Ooooo...ok. That was the first place that came to mind ...but it would be easier for me to take my car someplace, I don't mind changing oil, but I've never done a tranny before (I know it can't be that hard), but I don't have ramps or really any place to put the oil and transport it to disposal places (I'm at college right now). I've never gone to Jiffy Lube, but I meant just some place the changes oil. I'm sorry if I'm repsonsible for any bricks...haha.

I made an appointment to get both changed at the local speed shop--Excessive Autosports. I ended up getting Mobil 1 tranny oil too, being that none of these good ol' Detroit Iron boys have heard of Redline oil, and therefore they don't carry it.

Mobil 1 wouldn't be bad though, would it? I already bought it and I don't know if the place would take it back, even though it's unopened. I don't have time to order it either, the appointment is in a week.

Hey Motorhead, whereabouts around Detroit do you hail from? I'm up in Troy and have met a couple guys from the northern suburbs and Windsor.

I'm not actually around Detroit...just going to college in the midwest (SD), no one has really even heard terms like "Protege" or even "Vtec." I'm originally from Colorado Springs, and there are a lot of imports there, where as the compact of choice out here is the Cavalier (ugh). I just assumed that since a lot of people use Red Line in their imports back home, it was an import thing.

Since nobody answered your question.... No, Mobil 1 would not be bad. It will be just fine.

Hold on, which grade do we need in MtX: GL-4 or 5???? cause somebody said to get MT90(GL4) and you got M1(GL5). Or there is no difference? What was that deal with 'MoSO4' element messing up yella metall? May be the imperial stout messed me up

There is a huge difference between GL4 and GL5. In this case, Mazda approves the use of either, so harming the softer metals is not an issue if a GL5 is used in this case.

I have used Redline MTF in a car and was not terribly happy w/ the results. Maybe it was the car, but I developed a 2nd gear grind that was substantially ameliorated (tho not entirely eliminated) by switching back to Honda MTF.

I have heard from a number of people that GM Synchromesh MTF is the best stuff you can pour into a manual tranny. The same stuff they sell OTC at the Chevy dealer and pour into Cavaliers is what GM race teams use.

I used at first mobil1 synthetic tranny fluid which was no better than what came with the car new.

I then tried Redline MT 90 which made a big difference for 2nd gear grinding and cold weather.
