Wagner 2.0 Cams (Matty)

Hey Matty, I see that Wagner Motor Sports is going to sale cams and they claim the get 26 whp. I have e-mailed them a few times to see what other mods they did to the car before the cam install but I they don't return the e-mails. I thought I heard you say you know them and was wondering if you could find out.
I would like to know if that hp gain is just the cams or if they did any mods prior to the cam install.
26WHP is a pretty good gain, I just hope they don't over price the cams.

I do know them pretty well but I'm not real familiar with these cams he's come up with. Last time I spoke with anyone at Wagner about those cams it was from a non-reliable source so I won't put too much accuracy in what I was told previously.

I will call Andy and get the most current I can tomorrow. 26whp from cams alone sounds a little high but I won't pass judgement until I see some good proof.

If possible I'll try to run another Wagner GB on here if anyone is interested.

If the gain is with just the cams, hell yes I'll GB. I'm hoping that all they've done was the normal CIA, header and exhaust. That part is done already!

Thanks

I dunno, on the other forum there was a big debate about the accuracy of the dynos. I won't get into it withanyone but I've never known Wagner to inflate his numbers to increase sales. I think people who develop parts for cars know they have to be somewhat accurate since people like to dyno their cars.

I remember earlier talks with Wagner about the cams and the specs were created by Wagner but verified and tested by Crower. He sent them a complete stock head and his custom grinds and had everything tested and tweaked. It wouldn't surprise me between Wagner's racing past and Crowers ability/eqipment that they could turn out some badass cams.

I would expect that with cams giving such a large gain that there would be some issues affecting driveability. I know with Focus "stage 2" type cams that there are some serious idling issues (like wtf, it's stalling again)....but the the 1/4 times look damn good.

What the hey...I'll wait for some more definitive answers/posts/dyno sheets and perhaps another guinea pig who has run beefier cams for more than 4 hours to tell us what they are like!

I want my car to lope like a V8 hahahahhahaah. Right?

Phantomcruiser,
That's why I will want to know what the lift and duration of these cams are, as it compares with the stock ones, once they make it past the prototype stage!
In addition, we will need to know if a spring upgrade and possibly lighter retainers will be necessary to prevent valve float.

spring upgrades are already available by Eibach. I plan on swapping these in when I do my head P&P. If Wagner's cams make even 15-20whp I'll buy them.

not that I'm aware of but I'd expect about $550 for both.

For even half that amount, it's not a bad gain!

well, i hear rumor that the j-specs cams add about 18whp for about $350.....the problem is getting the j-spec exhaust cam. I would expect for Wagner to charge much more he's have to make more power or have some advantage over the competition.
