Used Wagner short header

I found a used Wagner short header for sale on the other forum. Jet Hot coated, was used for a few miles but looks good except for some minor cracks where the individual cylinder pipes collect together. Anyone know of any reason I shouldn't try to get this? Like the cracks will propagate even after repair and the whole thing will fall apart?

i don't know if you can re-weld after something has been jet coated. YUou may have to strip the coating off there, re-weld it and then re-coat it.

The place where it needs to be welded is on the inside of the outlet, so the coating shouldn't be a factor. Mainly I want to know if there are any known problems with the headers that I would have to watch out for down the road (taking into account there aren't many of them out there). I want to keep the emissions stock with both cats which is why I want a Wagner.

if it was actrually jet-coated it'll be coated inside and out.

Thanks for the info, that was what I was looking for. I figure since this one has been used it won't just fall apart on me. Some of the welds aren't pretty, but I don't plan on showing the car. I think I'll chance it, if I can come to terms with the seller.

Right now it is down to coming to an agreement on price and payment method. If it doesn't happen for me I will PM you and let you know. I should hear something later today.

Later...Just heard back from the guy, it's a done deal. I'll let you know if it falls apart on me so you can feel relieved!

If you are bolting it to a stock exhaust - let me know how much gain (butt-O-meter impression to see if it is worth it...

Thanks!

Right now I have a RB cat-back exhaust, so it won't be completely stock. I will let you know, it will be late January before I am home though so don't expect anything before then. Once I have it installed I'll let you know how it feels, as well as sounds. We all know that a good sounding exhaust is worth at least 5 hp!
