transmission

i own a 99 es with an automatic trans and am having problems. when my car sits for a long period of time like overnight or at work for 8 hours when you sart up the car it goes into reverse fine then you pull the shifter down into drive and the car just sits there for about 5 seconds then you can feel the car go into gear, and a couple of times this has happened the car has jerked when it went into gear and the o/d off light comes on blinking and will not go off untill you kill the car then start it back up. the fluid is not low if anything its a little over full and the service manager at my local dealership told me it could be a vacuum issue so i removed the silicone vacuum lines that i had installed. the car only has 71k miles on it and it still has 8k miles left untill time to change the fluid again. also sometims when you slow down to stop at a redlight you can feel the car downshift its not a hard shift but you can feel it a little.this has only started since the installation of my aem short ram air intake could this be the cause of the problem? anything will help ,thanks

That could be a big part of the problem right there. Don't use silicone tube for vacuum lines. It's too soft and it will collapse under the vacuum. Use thick-wall rubber hose or nylon (and you can get these in different colors, too).

First thing I'd check is to make sure all the vacuum lines are in the right place and all the sensors and everything are plugged in right. Sometimes when you swap parts you can leave something unplugged (or not plugged in all the way) and forget about it. Re-trace your steps when you R&R'ed the intake and you'll probably find your cause.

the only thing that you have to do to put the intake on is unplug and replug mass airflow sensor purger valve and you dont have to the the purger valve loose and the line that runs from the intake to the valve cover. im only changed out 2 vacuum lines and changed them back to stock already but havent drove since i reset ecu so maybe that will help the 2 vacuum lines i changed out i couldnt have hooked up wrong because the way the stock lines where bent they could only go on 1 way.
