be careful. Carb cleaner is good stuff but it's VERY corrosive. I use brake parts cleaner for most degreasing and general cleaning. Carb cleaner I use for cleaning EGR valves and metal-only pieces. On rubber and plasdtics carb cleaner can dry it out and make it fragile.

Glad you got it up and running again.

Just a thought: Were you running an oiled filter (K&N or others)? If so, over-oiling could cause a film on the sensor which caused your problems. If paper, did you have a subtle hole somewhere? Anyone's input/experience welcomed here.
Also, would electrical contact cleaner be the best? It's harder to find on the shelf sometimes, but I believe it's less nasty to plastics and other parts.

Thumbs up Thanks!!!!!

Woo! Jster and the rest of you! Thanks so much for this thread! I've had the problem you mention in the first post for almost a year! Been trying tons of things to fix the sluggish starts in first gear. Pulled out the MAF and took my break parts cleaner to it... it didnt seam dirty at all... no soill or anything else seamed to come off of it which made me a little sad... but put it back in and BAM!! No more gutless starts!!! Back to peak performance!!!

Hoping now to get some advice on my overheating problem I'm having.

If you like, check out that thread here. No clue what is going on with that.

Thanks again for the posts. Another huge benifit is that your post led me to this awesome site! (thanks google!).
