StreetUnit intake manifold

ok i don't want to sound like I'm promoting for these guys
and i only talked to them once on the phone

but i read in a post that ...
this "new" intake was from a old 626
was refurbished with just a "bad" port-job

and it was raising some eyebrows 'cause of the EGR
and some other things

the story is that they (streetunit) are a third party in this deal,
asked to finish the development of this intake for the protege specificly

...it DID however start life from the casting molds of the 626
( which does not fit the protege w/o modification)
this was originaly started by a Japanese company who saw the need for a Hi-Pro
intake for the protege and used the existing tooling to save development money
(Roddimus should apreciate that line of thought...saving development money)
they lost intrest and sold what they had to someone state-side and the project was offered
to StreetUnit

thats the how the story was told to me
i hope someone has more info
so i don't look like an idiot with my "junk" hanging out...or something

sounds interesting but the proof is the dyno and price tag.

If someone can take a 626 mani and make similar power for $50 It's going to be hard to push the SU manifold for $600.

I don't think anyone is upset at SU's product...just the price if it's nothing more than old 626 manifold. When you mark a cheap product up 10X's over it's cost thats when people get upset.

I personally have nothing to say about the product other than I thought it looked identical to the older fs-de manifolds. I was right about that part. I saw Edwin had a mouthfull to say about it though. He's a smart guy, he knows what he's talking about.
