So before everyone laughs, I need help (kinda noob)

Hey everyone, I was searching ebay the other day and came across an engine for a 94-98 skyline R33 with only about 41k miles on it and it included everything, from the trans, to the cross member, to the alternator....everything. And my question to all you great mazda people is this, I know my 2002 Protege 5 is a FWD car and that a skyline is a RWD car. But would there be a way to put the skyline engine that I found into my 02 Protege 5 without having to buy a new rear end and new axles to convert it to RWD. The engine was about 2400.00 plus shipping and doc fees. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the hardest, how hard and how costly would this modification be. Should I go with this or should I just build my engine up with forged internals and throw a turbo on there?? Tell me what you think about both...thanks again guys.

If joo have the money, then do it man. If it's a RB26 that would be just insane. To put it in a protege it would probably cost......... $15,000-ish, but you would have the most unique street driven protege out there.

On a scale that is a TEN for difficulty and practicality.

Find a wrecked JDM AWD P5 and you have a start...
Find someone who can fab mounts, hoses, brackets etc.
Find a tuner to re-map the AEM or replace the entire wiring harness and keep the new ECU.
Insurance rider for all the extra value (because if it gets totaled you get only the $$ for a used P5 AND NOTHING MORE.

or-

Save the money and just WOMP it ! (recommendation).

BY the time you spend the time and money it will vastly exceed the value of the car if you had to sell it. See the "Over $10,000 invested - asking $4,000 ads" you see everywhere for custom jobs.

scale of 1-10 to put a 2.8L straight 6 into a fwd chasis.....11.5

It would be easier to tub out the p5 and make it rwd with that engine and tranny....if it would even fit.

If it were me....

$2500 for an R33 powertrain could be spent on pistons/rods and Ken's tranny package....then all you'd need is boost and you'd have at least 300whp safely in your p5.

yeah the forged internals would prolly be a better option. Just the thought of opening the hood at shows and a skyline engine sitting there would be just plain awesome. Watching peoples mouths dropped would justify everything lol. But yeah, ill just build the engine and get a turbo or supercharger....*wink**wink*
