Shift rod linkage freeplay

I'm trying to eliminate the side to side freeplay in the
manual shifter...I saw a post a while back with a diagram
showing how to tighten up the freeplay, but I can't locate it..
The freeplay seems to be at the linkage near the transmission.
Any ideas?

thanks,
Jim

Thumbs up Use Kartboy bushing

jimyavorcik

The stock shifter bushing is very soft. Buy the Kartboy bushing and this will eliminate the freeplay. Hit the search buttom and search Kartboy, I think there is a group buy going on somewhere.

im using the kartboy ss and bushings. it does reduce the side to side freeplay, but i dont think you would want to take it out completely. i still got some side to side play but its pretty stiff
going into the gates. im using the factory **** + about 15mm
height on the kartboy ss. imo, the shifter is too short.

Longer Shift ****

Kenchan

I was at Kartbay's site today and saw some longer shift ***** that may help you with the "short" SS problem. Give a lookie and let me know what you think.

Unhappy My Bad

Kenchan

I cant find it either, but I will. Must have been a different site. I was home today for the roofers and surfed all day. I'll look at my history log and get back to you. Sorry about that.

Mickey

Edit:

Found a similar site, http://www.modacar.com/products/Mazda/RX7/MODASHK

Look at the longer Sparco ***** at the bottom of the page

Lightbulb Talked to Tom at Kartboy

Kenchan

I Talked to Tom at Kartboy and put a bug in his ear that some buyers thing the Kartboy SS is allitte to short. Suggested an threaded extension. He said that that may be a possibility. Kartboy is also working on engine mount and we should hear something in the near future. Lastly Tom is working on new performance strut sleeves for our car. I asked hem to keep the board informed on the progress of each. Talk later
