Reverse Click from engine or Trans

I have a 2002.5 ES with auto and sportshift and I have recently began to notice a clunking sound when I hit the gas from a stopped position in reverse. I don't here the clunk when I shift into reverse only when I hit the gas. I was thinking that the engine mount broke or something. I took a quick look at the front mount and I saw a rubber tab that was sticking out of it. Not sure if it is normal but if I need to take the picture I will. I read somewhere about straight gears and that is what I am hearing but I don't know if that refers to manual transmissions only. Does anyone know what I might be hearing?
