Well I installed the Ractive intake and it said Mazda Protege on the box. The only problem was the bracket that mounts to the engine. If you want to see the install have a peek in the regional section under Western Canada. The thread name is "Ractive intake installed 2 at a time".

I recently went to see my local dealer and he told me that the only Intake that would not void my warranty was the Ractive Intake... Since it is not gonna be installed by them ( 'cause I got a better price elsewhere ) and that you told me that the bracket has a problem, I'm just asking myslef if I'm running into trouble by putting one under my hood ? I mean, if the Ractive has a bracket's problem, why would my Mazda's dealer tell me that it doesn't void my warranty ?

Thanks

He most likely told you that in hopes that you would buy it there. No intake will void your warranty unless you install it wrong and F**k up your engine.

... I also heard that the Ractive intake was made for the 1.8L whereas my local dealer said that it was for the 2.0L ! I know I asked that question in my first post, but I just want to be sure.

If the bracket has a problem with the 2.0L, it is surely not made for it. But why would they be selling it and claming that its the only one that can fit the Protege 2.0L ?

Sorry for all those questions, but I just want to be sure that I dont make any mistake by putting one under my hood !!!

Thanks

the only way that it will void your warrantee is if they can prove that the intake was solely (or mostly) the cause of the engine failure-or course you could always take the intake off and put the old airbox back on before you bring it in to them

I think the bracket is a generic one so it can fit many vehicles. You have to cut it so that it fits properly. Overall I think the design of the bracket itself is lacking since it not strong enough and that is why I am designing a new one to replace it. Oh by the way, just be aware that there should be 3 rubber connectors in the Ractive kit but two are the same and one is different. The different one is the one that attaches to the engine.
