Racing Beat Cat Back doesn't fit 99 1.8 non-CA model
I was about to install the Racing Beat Cat Back exhaust today on my 99 ES 1.8 (regular emissions meaning one cat only immediately after exhaust header) when I ran into a little problem. Either they &Q*W$*%'D up my order or this exhaust will not fit a 99-00 regular 1.8 (not the CA - ULEV model.) the exhaust is desinged to connect to the secondary cat in the CA model which my car does not have obviously, leaving about an 18" gap between the cat-back and the downpipe.
Now Racing Beat says on their site that it fits a 01-02. Please don't tell me that all the 01-02 models have 2 cats like the 99-00 ULEV models do!!! Do they?
I emailed RB and will call them first thing - I'll let you all know what I find out.

So its true. The only 3gens without a second cat are the 99-00 non-CA models. I'm having a replacement pipe made at a shop but everybody in CA is **** about fabricating exhaust. The second you mention the word "cat" the shop gets real skeptical - even though I tell them the car never had a second cat. Damn CARB.
Racing Beat knew about the differences. I suggested they just fabricate one extra little piece and then they could sell to all the 99-00's. Maybe down the road theyll do it but its not likely.
