Brycer, do the work ONCE....do it RIGHT the first time....be patient....tell your girlfriend to be patient....save up what you need to get a good Catback exhaust and change it out ONE time. besides...if you just go for the muffler...and spend the $125 or so for it and the install.....then you save up the $360 or so for a decent Catback and then install it...what do you do with the OLD muffler you spent $125 for? that money was really just dumped down the drain....just for the sound.....tell her to cool it....spend the money ONCE.....do the install ONCE....then you get the tone you are looking for...plus some power gain as well. you can have a custom exhaust system made for about 350. this would include muffler and 2.25" tubing from cat back installed. this would give the sound u want if the correct muffler is used. i hear good things from magnaflow. they make many style mufflers that are fully stainless steel and i belive they have a lifetime warranty. and for power gains most people advertise 15 to 30 whp but a normal horsepower gain from this mod would be about 5-10 whp. http://www.automediazone.com/pro/90LX_enter.htm
this site has a pic of what i'm talking about and it has a link to hear the muffler. this will let you hear what the magnaflow sounds like.

Just a muffler

If you are looking for a muffler for your car, I have a BroSpeed/Bosal that sounds nice. It has a very small burble to it at idle, but not so annoying as to create a problem in the drive-thru at McD's!
In the low to mid-range it has a noticabe sound, but it is a very low note, not annoyingly loud like a juice can. In the high RPMS (4000+) the sound diappears and you'd think it was a stock muffler. I can hear the K&N cone filter more than the muffler under loads at high RPMs. I don't think my muffler is much different from what is found on the MP3 (by: RacingBeat). The nice thing about my muffler is you don't hear it inside the car at idle or crusing, only under acceleration or load. This is the best trust me ('78 Mustang with '85 5.0L V8, dual cherry bombs with glass packing blown out! ouch!)

RE you kidding? At 4000+ rpms the think is LOUD!!! I have no problem with it in the city, but on the highway its LOUD! Get the silencer for the thing! Otherwise you get a headache on a highway trip.
