poorboy newbie mods?
I just got a new 02 P5 so i'm MEGA broke... but having come off a huge-**** 3.8L V6 domestic piece of **** car (like in adam sandler's song), i love everything bout the P5 but miss the old hp... what's the quickest/cheapest fix for a newbie to boost stock hp to 150ish range? (can't afford a turbo/super)... =(
any advice would be awesome! thanks!

its going to cost ya alot no matter what you do to get that extra 20 horses
i'd sugest getting a short ram air intake first, then a sport exost(sp), that will push it up 10HP, then later down the road get the j-spec fs-ze cams + valve springs and that should push it up another 10HP
if you want anything more your going to need a turbo or super charger kit!

Nitrous. It's effects are temporary, but you only need to use it when you start to miss the old gas guzzler. It's by far the cheapest way to get a noticable increase in power from your engine. For less than $500 you can occasionally get the feeling of having a V6 in your Protege.

cool cool... thanks dudes! what brands/models of air intakes/exhaust work best in the P5?
I know nos is a good quick fix, but ever since my buddy told me some horror stories of his nos in his civic malfunctioning and stayin on longer than it's supposed to, i'm sorta skeptical bout em!

Intake wise, you can do the AEM short ram. Or the Injen CAI (but its going to cost more...powerwise, about the same...look wise, some people like it better than the AEM) I sell the AEM for 190.00. Exhaust wise, the Bosal isnt a bad priced cat back at 370.00. There are a couple others that are in the 500+ range but I think the Bosal is a great system. Alot of guys on the group have that. Those 2 mods are by far, the easiest to do & good canditates for first mods.

actually that sounds pretty sweet... so i'd be lookin around $600 USD ta get 10ish more hp, any of you have the websites for AEM/Bosal? and i was wondering what effect if any the cat-back has on emissions, cuz in BC we have "AirCare" and they won't let ya buy insurance unless ya pass... and is it fairly easy to install em? or do i hafta bring it to a shop? =P
ps. and Dave, nope... didn't have a pontiac, had a 220hp oldsmobile... the timing chain snapped while i was idling (lucky i wasn't flyin along) then the valves fired off timing and basically blew themselves up damaging the engine block in the process...
pps. PseudoRealityX, LOVE the quote on your signature tag! hahahha! SO TRUE... SO TRUE!!!
