New header... do I need gasket?

Hey everyone, its been a while. Just had a quick question for you: I ordered a new Wagner shorty header today, just wandering if I should go ahead and order a new gasket too. If it matters, the car is an 02 with about 32,000 miles on it. If I need one, does anyone know the part number? Thanks for the replies, and glad to be back.

you mean the head to manifold gasket? I would say "no". It's a multi-piece metal gasket and should almost never need replacing. If it'll make you feel better go ahead but you won't notice any difference.

...just to let you know, I re-used my gasket when I put in my Wagner shorty. I've actually had it in and out of the car on multiple occaisions, so I guess you can say that I've reused this gasket multiple times. As far as I can tell by listening to the car run and srutinizing around the header for carbon traces or other telltale signs, leakage has never been a problem for me. Save that money for the beers you are going to need for the install.

The wagner shorty does not bolt up to the mid-pipe... it bolts up to the top of the first cat. YOu can reuse this gasket as well. If you ever do replace the minipipe with a catless DP, you can reuse the gasket between the DP and the MP as well. Been there, done that, no issues whatsoever.

Just to give you one more person as proof. I got the wagner and I reused mine also. I've had it on for a while and have had no problems.

We re-used my gasket as well when we installed the Bosal header.
