You need more power you have a 2l engine you know what Ive got 1.6l baby. Think of it this way youve got like 30 hp on me.
Proteges are underpowered its pathetic. Just go with a turbo then you can start ripping some ***. There are a few turbo kits out for the pro5 so you should be fine.
I know a few people that think that my car is fast because it is a mazda, little do they know.

17, eh?
Try Hwy 9 late night all alone.
I hang with the big dogs over there.
An S2000 tried to ride my bumper once and I just hauled *** and soon enough I couldn't even see him in my rearview mirror.
Our cars like twisties not straights :-p
So what about this Bay Area meet ?

A Protege with JIC FLTA2s & bigger bars could out-handle a stock s2000. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the MSP can out-handle an s2000 also. (using slalom speeds and skidpad as a measure of handling).

that's nice
moded vs stock = NO comparison
stock vs stock, the S2000 will never lose to a protege

So what DOES the Protege handle better than other than Cadillacs and SUVs?
Seems to me the Protege's strongest point isn't so strong after all.
So what can the Protege outhandle for $17k (stock)? A Dodge Neon ? Whoopdy-*******-doo.

S2000 vs. Protege
Protege is much easier to drive fast than a S2000. I know!!
Before I moved to Florida- home of the flat straight road- I used to love "pushing" people in fancy sportscars. I have been autocrossing for over 5 years, and truth is, I wouldn't want to drive a S2000 hard on the street. They are not as predictable as the Protege or easy to save if they get a little loose.
The average Joe would kill himself trying to overdrive an S2000 on curvy roads.

KpaBap, the Protege would never outhandle a S2000.
I once saw one take an offramp glued to the road at 2.5x the suggested limit with no roll and instability.
The S2000 was designed at the offset as sports car/roadster, and not a sporty economy car like the Protege. To say the Protege outhandles a S2000 is like saying a Pro outhandles the RX-8 and RX-7, which we know is impossible, stock for stock.
The Protege outhandles many cars in its class, and other cars in higher classes, with more sportier pretensions. But never hardcore sports cars.

IMO "stock for stock" our P5 outhandled our Focus, but it will never have anywhere near the amount of hp & tq that a turbo car will have. We have since upgraded the suspension on the Focus with springs, sway bars, strut bars, bushings, you name it and it corners like one scary beast!
Oh well, I'll just putt along in my 'mildly modified' slow and low P5 cuz it looks damn good...
