MSP Axleback Exhaust

Who all sells them and how much do they go for new?

I have a chance to pick one up used on the other forum for $120+15 shipping but I thought I could find a brand new one in the vicinity of $160.

New are over, or close to, $200 iirc.
Check with Ken/P-garage, he should be able to hook you up.

Or buy the Thunder axle-back, if you don't mind waiting a few months...

If you have a P5, the end is gonna stick out about 2-3 inches. The sedans are a little longer.

I'd probably either lurk craigslist or the other protege site for a cheap used one. $135 sounds about right if it's low milage and unscratched.

It does look pretty good and it's from a P5 so it shouldn't stick out at all. I think I'm probably gonna do it, and as much as I'd like to get on the Thunder Catback Gary I don't have $400 to dish out. Thanks for your input guys!

You'll be able to buy the Thunder axle-back portion separately. But it's ok, if you get a good deal on something you want, don't pass it up!

It's a pretty nice lookin muffler in my opinion, and the price is right too. It has no damage on it whatsoever, and looks practically new so I can't pass up on it. Besides, everyone says it's a great sounding muffler and it's not very expensive either so it's exactly what I'm looking for.

Also picked up some Kartboy exhaust hangers, so this should be a sweet little upgrade for $150!

If you go on eBay and go to the store for Nelson Mazda, they have brand new Mazdaspeed axle backs for P5s for $159 IIRC. I have bought a couple of items from them, they are good to deal with and their customer service is first-rate. If you can't find it let me know and I will see if I can send you an item number.

Dude I found your post on that from a while ago and searched on eBay but couldn't find it. I would have you dig up the item number but I think I'll just go with this deal, I mean it looks almost brand new and I'd save about $35 or so. How much does Nelson charge for shipping? Usually it's not that cheap on exhausts ...

Oh yeah! I used to have one of those on my P5. IIRC, the ones for the P5 are made by Borla. The fitment is perfect and they sound REAL nice....a lot like the JIC cat-back that I replaced mine with.

I kinda wish I still had my MS one, now that my bumper's melted.

Here's the link to the item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/mazda...06645494QQrdZ1

I was wrong, price is $169 (sedan was cheaper). Shipping is based upon UPS rates to your zip code. They don't rape you on the shipping like some, I don't recall how much mine was but that would add to the price. Sounds like you have a good deal on your hands. Good luck and be sure to let us know how you like it.

PayPal did its' job, so I should be seeing a box in front of my house within the next week hopefully. I'll make sure to take pics for everyone.

Meanwhile, I have a question about the kartboy hangers. I ordered them last night to go along with this muffler, and I wanna know if they're gonna make the tip sit higher and bang against the cut-out.

Don't think so, they're just stiffer, so less movement and vibration than stock.

Awesome ... thanks Gary.

By the way, did you ever figure out if you're gonna be able to upload a sound clip of the Thunder Cat-Back for us?

Haha, I have no idea how to do it.
When I get it installed, I'll ask around.
