MS protege tranny

Is the tranny on the Mazdaspeed protege the same as that on the manual v6 mazda 6? I know the MS protege has a LSD but other than that is it the same?

Thanks, that's good to know. At least i know now that the MS can handle at least 220 hp before it blows.

where do you get that info from?? it has bigger axles and an LSD,yes...but the internals are the same and will probably blow just as easy as the tranny on the regular Pro or P5...how do you know it will handle 220?? not saying it wont but LSD's are about traction,I dont think they help strengthen the internals any....just out of curiosity, what kind of money would you be looking at to have the internals of a tranny forged?? that would probably allow you to boost like crazy with proper fuel management

all I was concerned with was the internals of the tranny(gears and synchros) The LSD is irrelevant as far as strength of the tranny is concerned. I called Mazda this morning and they said the same thing. That the tranny's are identical except for the LSD and the gearing, but that the gears are made the same so theoretically they should hold up as well as the ones in the 6.
