MAF Icing?

Ok, I'm a pilot, so this makes alot of sense to me, but for those of you who may not understand, I'll try to the best of my ability to explain.

On a carburated airplane engine (or any carbureted engine for that matter) as the air rushes through the carb, the venturi effect causes the air to speed up, and as a result, rapidly cool. If the conditions are right, (temp and dewpoint within about 7*C) ice will start to form in the carb. On a plane, it can be fatal if left unchecked, as the carb will enventually ice right shut.

My question is this: I live in Calgary, and even this morning on the way to school it was -21*C! One of my buds wanted to see my intake when I rolled up, so I popped the hood and found my CAI pipe completely frosted over! I park in a heated garage, so the car was not left out all night.

I was just wondering if the air rushing through the intake (I was driving pretty hard this morning) was cooled enough while the temp and dewpoint were close, could the MAF possibly ice up? I'm not sure as to whether or not it would produce a venturi effect, but I looked as I pulled my screen thingy out, and it is a little smaller in diameter.

I know I shouldn't worry (I'm not) but I'm just curious.

Any thoughts?

nope! all the MAF does is read airflow using a sensor and im sure this was subjected to temps similar to what youre experiencing during testing. secondly, the TB wont freeze up like a carb since its got coolant or anti-freeze rather. hope that helps.
