intake

Which brand name of cold air intake do you guys suggest? I saw some cold air intake from Ebay that claimed they will work with P5, should I trust them?

I notice that the intake system in our P5 is a bit different than other car. There is a section along the tube that is plugged with some wires and something look like a fuse. What are those wires for and what the section does? In my old car, the 94 Corolla, the intake system is just a plain simply tube with none electrical parts. Hope someone can give me some idea of what it is.

PS, I am not sure if I should post this here or I should post this to other part of the forum. Please correct me if I did wrong.

I just went to some sites that sell the intake you were talking about.
After the installation, the cone filter stick very deep down under the hood. I am wonder, if there is a light flooding, will that make it worse than the original intake since the original one opening is higher on the hood.

I remember seeing some photos or some people's P5s, some of them have the cone shape filter located higher inside the hood. I think they located it at where the old filter box used to be. Anyone know what that intake system called?

Well I like the sound of the Ractive intake....

By the way, since you drive a 2003 Protege5, your car is considered a 3rd Generation Protege

There is a section for 'Engine/Drivetrain' where questions about intakes have been covered 'x' times, as 'x' approaches 'positive infinity'

get the Ractive one, you know you want it

Can you give me the seller's name on Ebay or send me the link of your item?

Let me take a lot, I might buy from him too.

Do you drive a P5 too?

Do you think the one you bought will be any much different than those expensive 200 dollars one from Injen or AEG?
I mean performance.

Sorry that I ask so many question.
Does it come with installation instruction?

I wish you can take some pics of your hood and show it to us sometime.
I really would like to see how it look inside the MP5 hood.

to me, 200 more bucks for 1-2 HP isn't worth it. I don't have pics of my car but here is a pic of what it looks like, http://www.madisonclub.org/p5.html no there are no instructions, but its pretty straight forward just look at this pic.

http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...RACTIVE+INTAKE go here is the other link doesn't work

By the way, how often (I mean how many miles) do you need to replace or clean the clone shape filer?
